A Hermit's Cave
Hiya chap(esse)s...

I'm about to upgrade my phone, but can't be arsed to really choose, mainly because I don't use my phone much except for random internet surfing, texting, e-mails & calls (oh, the irony in that).

So... choices as per poll... what would you go for...?

Oh, and incidentally, they're all free, hence my almost complete ambivalence towards the necessary choice... -_-

As a side note, the smartphone market has basically been cornered by Apple & Samsung (more or less) yet I get the impression that the other brands aren't that shabby. So, in the event you can't be bothered to help me pick a new phone (understandable), which brand do you prefer und vye?

I would say HTC.

But seeing that the SIII is also an option, I suggest you get that one. On account of it being way waaaaaaaay more powerful than the Desire C.

Now if you were talking about the Desire X, I might consider. XD

But yeah, HTC is a great company. And their latest phone, the One, is looking pretty damn good.

But from all the options, I'd go with SIII.

Unless you could get your hands on a HTC One X or One S. In which case, I might re-reconsider.

HTC's a good brand, but the particular HTC phone you listed sucks. The Galaxy SIII is way better than it. Personal preference more than objective truth, but Apple is meh, Sony is meh.

So yeah, of the choices you listed, I'd go with the SIII.

Out of those I'd go with the SIII. However I'd personally hang on a a few weeks and get the HTC One as that looks like it's going to be THE phone for the next few months.

HTC seems to have discontinued the One S, which is a shame as it's probably one of the best phones they've ever made, up there with the original Desire.

Really? D:

It was a good looking phone! ;-; And it was received well to boot! Ah well, 'tis a shame that HTC had to mark the One series' price so high. The current world demands better phones for less! Which is where Sony is excelling at the moment I think.

And One V... so so... ugly. @_@

It really depends on what you want to do with the phone. As a gaming platform, the iPhone is your best bet but it's advantages more or less end there. If you want to do something useful, such as routinely compose e-mails (or any other activity that requires lots of text input) I would chose literally none of the above options largely due to lack of either pleasing keyboard or other questionable design choices.

That said, if forced to choose one of the above, I'd say it cones down to the Galaxy or the iPhone, choosing the former if I didn't intend to use it for games.

Yeah apparently they replaced it with the One SV, which makes no sense as it's actually worse

Agree on the looks department too. The One S is really slick looking.

Oh wow, poor screen, dissimilar design. Ouch.

HTC really needs to get its act together if it wants to capture the glory days of the Desire flagship.

What's wrong with Android games? D:

I mean, you can play Dead Space on it. And proper A grade racing games and shooting games. And Dead Trigger is free on Android and the SIII can sure as hell handle that. >.>

What I'm saying is that I have no idea as to why you'd say that the Galaxy SIII is not good for games. <.<

Whatever you do get Android, most models are cheaper and it's a better OS than iOs. I'd stick with something by Samsung, but I've only really used Samsung so can't comment too much...

It has a smaller library for games. If games are a key reason for purchase, then choose the dominate platform. If they are not and games are just a nice thing to have, the Galaxy would suffice.

[sub][sub]But there's a Dark Knight Rises game on the Market.[/sub][/sub]

Fair point actually. The library of the iPhone overlords is more extensive, definitely. Plus, most mobile games come out there first. Makes sense.

My only advice is this:

Avoid the fucking Blackberry!

Not that I'm bitter or anything...

I have no idea when it comes to phones. I still use my old Motorola Razor. It does everything I want from a phone, so I don't see the need to upgrade. Plus it's battery lasts about a week without charging.
