Funny how those mentioned games are not really ROLE PLAYING games. You don't roleplay in them, not even slightly.
dude, they are called Rpgs it's not my fault
Diablo 2 is a Hack and Slash, or even an action-cRPG (but that's a bad example - Neverwinter Nights or Baldur's Gate are cRPGs). TES? Barely more RPG.

That's like comparing a 1940 car to a new 2009 car. They both are cars, but the quality is a bit... different. Or a Mexican, high-class coffee compared to a local ooze that is probably just a bucket of dirty water with dirt inside.
dude, i don't think you understand this, i don't give a shit if it's and actual role playing game.. i just called the rpg because that's what they say it is, and that's what they say oblivion, kotor, gothic and others are[rpgs are usually the games that have characters with an inventory stats and items and side quests]
Don't believe everything they say.

Diablo 2 has side quests? Really? I know that there are 6 quests in every act (except for IV), but they are more or less required for the main quest.

Besides, if we start thinking "side quest and equipment? RPG!!!", then we might as well treat Crysis as an RPG. Upgrades? Yeah, we collect guns and mod them. Equip? Of course, already mentioned. There are also "skills" you can use (armor modes) and side quests (Optional objectives).

No RPG fan will ever acknowledge those games as RPGs. Most of them would want to hurt you for puttong KotOR next to Oblivion and Gothic, you know. That's really, really not the same.

Again, it's comparing a small country football/soccer club to Manchester United. Both are technically football clubs, but would you put them in the same league? You still don't understand?
dude in aarrpeegeess you level up and ahve different kinds of characters... it's just the fucking definition, they say they are rpg on the case and that is the genre that i like, the one they wrote on the case

You also can level up in Heroes of Might and Magic. Does this make it an RPG? Different kinds of characters? Of course, it has a lot of them.

You don't like RPGs if you think Diablo can be compared at this field to KotOR. You like hack and slashes. Or action games.

Oh, wait, I've got another one! You gain power-ups in Prince of Persia! So it's another Roleplaying Game, since you roleplay the prince!!

...Do you even know why they are named "Roleplaying Games" and not "Levelupers"? Because a lot of Roleplaying games have pathetic level limits, because it's not the main point of the game. Those games with high level limits (or no limits at all) focus on combat and not the RPG part. How about you play some real RPGs and then try comparing to Diablo.

Also, stop swearing. You are not in a pub.

Actually no video game is a true RPG.A true RPG is a pen and paper RPG or a tabletop RPG.

And no matter how much you shout Diablo is a type of RPG.

Yes, it has a lot of RPG elements. But you can't simply put KotOR with it or Oblivion. Because Neverwinter Nights, KotOR and Baldur's Gate are the closest ones to pen and paper RPGs. I mean, they are almost pure adaptations. Especially Dungeons and Dragons that has a lot more tactical DnD elements.

I think we already have enough sections already. One for gaming, one for reviews, one for news, one for Escapist features, one for Genre Wars, and one for everything else. 'Music' would fall under 'Off-topic discussion', I believe.

But you can put. Its an action roleplaying video game.

Diablo is as much RPG as it is Dungeon Siege, Baldurs Gate, The Elder Scrolls, KOTOR, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Fable, Fallout, Mass Effect, Mount and Blade, Sacred, Neverwinter Nights and many others.

They all RPG, some more than others, but doesnt change the fact that they are RPG.

You can because they all show RPG elements which allows them to be classified as RPGs, however just because a game is in one genreit doesn't make it as good as other games in that genre.

Music is off-topic, so no.

If they were to make sub-categories i think making them for different gaming-genres would be the most usefull thing.
Or maybee for the different platforms.

But tbh i think it works pretty well as it is now.

You know, I have to protest the "like you could convince..." line in this poll. We listen to our community quite a lot, and when we get good suggestions (that are feasible) we implement them. This is your home, after all, we want to do everything we can to make it a fun and comfortable place for you to be.

That said, I'm not sure that there's enough of a need for an entire forum dedicated to music topics. I don't know about you guys, but I don't enjoy those forum that have eight million different forums, each dedicated to one specific slice of life -- it's too overwhelming, you never feel like you can see everything. And, as others have pointed out, if we make a forum just for music, then logically we should have one just for TV, just for movies, just for books, just for RPGs, and so on, and so on.

I have to agree with Susan on this one. However, thinking about what she's typed here, I just had a thought about further sub-topics for different themes and so on. As she says, we don't need huge numbers of different topics for every different idea that mankind can come up with. However, we could always split each main topic into a small number of sub-topics. For example, Gaming Discussion could be split up as:

FPS
RPG
3rd Person Shooter
RTS
Adventure
Other

And so on. And we could do a similar thing to each other main topic. That way, the topics are split in a way that makes everyone happy, and makes it easier to find whatever threads we're looking for.

EDIT: I know this kind of goes against what Susan said at the end. However, if limited I think it could be a half decent idea.

You are not in a pub.
dude those are the games i like diablo, gothic, tes and others.. oblivion is my favorite game of all time.. and i consider them rpgs, because that's how everyone calls them if they're not arpeges then " i want a topic about the games diablo, tes, gothic nad other similar games".. happy?
Okay, but you can't say Diablo is similar to TES or Gothic.

OBJECTION!!

I see a contradiction in witness' testimony.

You might as well say that a matchstick is just as good at starting fire as napalm. Both can do that, right?
Diablo is a RPG, TES is a RPG, KOTOR is a RPG.

They all RPG's. But some use different aproach to the RPG genre. But they all are RPG.

And, as others have pointed out, if we make a forum just for music, then logically we should have one just for TV, just for movies, just for books, just for RPGs, and so on, and so on.
like you could convice them is excacty to see how many people choce is the one that has nothing to do with the topic (off-topicers)

and it was from personal experiance i hate having to go through all the doomsday threads in off-topic section to get to a good music one
and can i have DDKR badge
