Naked Empire, really?

To everyone else, I think it's a fantasy book. My girlfriend wrote a short story once using this character, Nicholas the Slide, based on Naked Empire. Slides are something like anthropomorphic wizards who can steal souls and give them to animals or the like. I think. I wish I had read the real book now.

But the name doesn't really sound good for anything. Apart from possibly a slide in a weird kid's programme and that shouldn't be on the Escapist.

He's a guy who steals people's souls so that he can take over the minds of animals and use them for his bidding.
