Poll: Night Clubs

Now I am aware that Rap, Hip/Hop, Electro and Dance are almost universally hated on the Escapist but I was wondering if anyone here enjoys getting drunk and having a good time in a Night Club, like I do. I know they're not great when you're sober, you can't really talk to anyone and most of the music is rubbish, but they can be seriously good fun. Dancing rocks, and you can't dance at a pub or bar really.

If you've never been in one, listen to one of the following, turn it up as loud as you can, turn all the lights off, down four pints (or a cocktail pitcher if you prefer), turn up your heating to full, make your PC/Laptop repeatedly flash bright multicoloured screens every second (or install disco lighting, but that is much more expensive) and imagine you are surrounded by hot girls dancing. That's basically it. For bonus points, install a smoke machine.

Yes I do, you haven't seen confused until 9 metal heads get on a stage in the middle of a rave and start dancing like mad people...that was a real fun night.

Should probably add my usual scene is a pub I prefer them easier to just sit around with friends and have a drunken chat.

Not really my scene, too crazy. I'd rather sit down in the pub and have a nice night drinking with mates, no need to go nuts. Have been to a fair few clubs and had a good time, I just prefer the quieter nature of pubs.

I allow myself to succumb to pressure about once year, and end up in a club...I don't enjoy it.

I love it! Especially my Universities student union, cheap drinks galore!

Don't get me wrong, at home, I like my heavy metal, but when I'm out and the drinks are flowing and the girls are dancing and I for some strange reason am dancing to, nothing is better than some dance, R & B, Mash Ups and Remixes, maybe throw some trance in.

It's just the mornings after, I'm 23, alcohol doesn't rest to well with me anymore.

I go dancing at Industrial/Goth/Electro nights clubs any chance I can get. Dancing is awesome! Shake your booty!

I'm biased by the fact that I play a lot of open mic nights, so I love the bars and pubs. Also, I tend to get pretty bad claustrophobia, so nightclubs can't quite trigger my 'having a good time' vibe.

Um every now and then, most of the girls i know love to dance so i happily go along with them...dancing can be fun. I used to almost every weekend my later years of highschool...how did i get into 21 and over at the age of 18 you ask? Well you just gotta know the right people.

In the UK you can get in at 18 anyway. Score.

I prefer pubs/bars. I hate dancing (and most music that accompanies it), and often find it painful to watch.

That being said, there are exceptions. Went to a metal club in the city ages ago and while the music wasn't all to my taste, lots of older metal and stuff that wasn't bad but I didn't care for, the atmosphere was lighthearted and fun. I even got up and headbanged a bit. It was just relaxing, even if the music did hurt my head.

So yeah. Don't mind loud music and watching pretty people dance badly every now and then, but generally, I'm happy to just sit with a drink and talk.

I like clubs for a proper night out, but most of the time I just end up in pubs with a smaller number of people, and I prefer it that way really.

I hate night clubs. Its getting annoying because my mates are becoming increasingly keen on them.

Give me a pub any day, with some pool tables, a couple of mates, a lot of scotch and beer and a lot of drunken conversation. And if you know where to go you can find pubs with some pretty hot chicks, notably in the city.

Never been. I don't think I'd go to one. Lots of people with loud music playing that I don't really care for. I think I would rather hang out in a bar where It's a little more peaceful.

I prefer Pubs and Bars. I want to just sit and chill with my friends, have some unusual drinks, talk and listen to good music (usually via a jukebox), maybe play some pool - why would I go to a place packed with people, dancing to ridiculously loud music I don't like?

Just curious, how crowded are your clubs? and how many are girls?

I went to a popular club in my country on a friday and the guys outnumbered the girls 4:1, it was also so packed you couldn't move or dance.

Think the owners have let their standards drop

Wow that is unpleasant. Not just the music, you ruin everything by turning the heat up. The amalgamation of all those foul smelling deoderants, perfumes and body odours just seems unbearable.

Seeing as how I do must of my Clubbing at Wal-Mart I can't really comment.


Though really I don't care for the big crowds at clubs,I'm always on edge about getting my wallet nabbed, getting chewed out by a random passerby or other not pleasant things.

I like staying in and maybe hanging out with some friends watching bad movies and playing games.
