No, this isn't a thread based around the Engineer from TF2.

See, I enjoy local multiplayer. And I enjoyed MW2's Multiplayer.

So when I heard all sorts of juicy, awesome things about Black Ops, I kinda got exited. My friend gushed on and on about it when it came out and I was all hyped up and raring to go.

Then we played local Multiplayer.

When we were done, I had but one, tiny question to ask.

WHERE THE HELL ARE THE %^&$ING LOCAL MULTIPLAYER OPTIONS?!?!?!

I'm getting %^&$ing sick and tired of this constant obsession with every damn multiplayer game having to be online only, online only, online F**KIN' ONLY! I know it's just a scam to get more cash by forcing players to buy more games if they want to play with their friends, but it's a trend that's really pissing me off!

Anyone else feel this way?

Not really, a new game is like what £40 max? It's not really a heck load of cash, but if you're into that kind of thing, then yeah i can see why you'd get angry.

Though I'm not quite as angry as you about it, OP, I myself have been wondering what happened to local co-op/multiplayer this day in age. Would be real nice to have it back. Especially when a friend has a huge ass TV to play stuff on!

If your complaining about the no missions thing then yeah fair enough, but theres zombie mode instead.

I can see where your coming from, but im not angry from it, theyve just replaced the missions thing with zombies. Which is what people asked for.

At least they put split screen online in the game. Then again, I was pretty pissed at the lack of offline split screen options, and lack of options in the bot matches. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back, Treyarch.

I don't think I'll get Black Ops. Do I really want another game that's just going to piss me off and waste my time? No. Plus there is only 1 weapon that I even think is cool: the AUG. Weapons are a BIG thing to me in a shooter. I'll wait for BRINK and Homefront...and Ghost Recon. All in the spring. (Thank you CoD for thinking you're so damn great you force other better games to be delayed.)

I know it has splitscreen, my beef is that they put all sorts of awesome, cool, interesting options in ONLINE multiplayer and completely gutted splitscreen.

Ultimately, the reasons can be summarized as "Supply And Demand". People Demand online multiplayer, and good online multiplayer games increase sales in the long term due to said quality of online multiplayer. Supply, because every player has to buy a copy.

I never have fun with local multiplayer anyway. Either I play with my sister and we get bored really quick or I play at my friend's on his teeny-tiny TV and we can't see what's going on,

I know what you're thinking, and no, him coming round to play on my big, shiny TV isn't an option due to my dad being grouchy about my cat walking into the room, let alone an actual, human guest.

No, the issue is that people are on this huge Online kick and splitscreen suffers because of it. Black Ops is just one example of the ridiculous obsession that every game is either 1-2 players local and only more players online. Some games don't even have 2 player local, you either play by yourself, or all your friends shell out the extra cash for at least another game...it's feckin' retarded!
