Do you think that even if Iran or Pakistan or anyone except perhaps north korea had access to nuclear weapons that they would ever fire it? I personally don't think so. The people in Iran and Palestine and, I don't know, Zimbabwe are just as human as any of us. If we react with horror at the thought of dropping a bomb then wouldn't they react the same way? They are not some mythical boogeyman who scheme of ending the lives of hundreds of thousands of people on a daily basis. I feel that the U.S. should not get so up in arms about this and treat the other countries like equals instead of children.

I really can't say if nations run by religious extremists would launch nukes at us, all I can say is I hope to hell they don't.

But in any case, I think there shouldn't be a single nuclear warhead in anyone's arsenal in the first place. They're too devastating on innocent lives to ever ever EVER justify being used.

I doubt that any country would fire a nuke at this point.
The collective backlash would be too much to deal with.

I say I should get control of all nukes.
And then, once every five years, I'd spin a giant wheel, and then flip a coin.
Whatever country the spinner landed on, I'd give a nuke to.
How they got it would depend on the coin toss.

Uh...
Not everyone is living in the USA, you know.
I think nukes should be put into one big cache someplace convenient.
They might come in handy should an evil meteor decide to commit genocide.

Pakistan does have nukes.

Most of the real danger of nuclear proliferation comes from the possibility of non-state actors getting a hold of them, because they're the least likely to feel any compunction against using them. Regardless, no other countries should possess them; the current countries have shown that they're restrained, but the risk of others is simply too great.

Besides, have you heard Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speak? I honestly wouldn't put it past him to consider nuking Israel (though Khamenei might restrain him).

If we would react in horror when they crash two planes into very high important buildings, wouldn't they react the same way?

It had to be said.

I've heard that if someone would be the first to send an atomic bomb, it would be North Korea. Only they probably do not have an atomic bomb yet, and in case if they bombed anyone, everyone would be quite angry at them.

I'm not concerned so much about what other nations might do with nukes, but rather with the fact that, with more people producing nuclear weapons, the more likely it is that unaffiliated 3rd parties will get there hands on them.

Nukes are one thing we don't really need being available on the black market.

They may be human, but who's to say they aren't just plain stupid? I think if they could at some point of their choosing, they would gladly do so, without considering consequences (I'm of course talking about North Korea... the other 2 know better). I'm just not sitting in a fallout shelter all damn day because I know that they're missiles... missiles can be shot down by a plane/many planes... the us has many, MANY planes. There are also things called missile defense systems, which can shoot down said missiles, hence the name. :p
I think the us has every right to treat other countries like children if they continue to act like children... hiding crap from other countries that could be potentially threatening if we didn't already know what they were capable of...

I am disgusted that even a single person voted "U.S. should be the sole possessor of nuclear arms".

All nuclear weapons should be destroyed. Otherwise could result in the destruction of the whole planet.

Aside from the fact that nukes are cheating, I still have enough faith in humanity that we won't launch nukes and cause a fallout 3-esque apocalypse.
We're not that stupid.

The U.S. should be the sole possessor of Nuclear Arms
You know, I love this option because of how outrageous it is. Why in the hell would anyone outside of the States choose this option? If there was only one country with Nuclear Arms, it would dominate the world out of fear until (if?) another country got a hold of or created another nuke. I'm actually kind of glad that the USSR had nukes as well as the States because it prevented America from completely ruling the world.

But I stand on the opinion that nukes should be dismantled and destroyed. I know that everyone agrees with me, but no one in their right mind would be the first to get rid of theirs. It's a SNAFU if there ever was one.

EDIT:

I dunno... you should never underestimate human paranoia and fear (not to mention stupidity).

Ideally, I think most world leaders want to, But the technology is out there, a terrorist organisation or a crazed dictator could easily get their hands on either the blueprints or a an actual weapon itself. What if they fire it?
Nuclear weapons for most countries are there so they can say "if you fire one at me, I'll fire back". Thinking about it, having multiple countries with nuclear weapons has probably stopped a nuclear war so far. Weird that.

So yeah I agree with you, all nuclear weapons should be destroyed, the problem is getting them all.
Just like in chess

Do I think a country will use a nuke? - No
Do I think a group or military commander will use a nuke? Hell yes, whether on behalf of a country is rather irrelevant once it comes to that. As any response would most likely be swift and 'proportionate' and after that happens it doesn't matter the reasons why.

Do I think nukes should be destroyed? No. Because we all have the technology and there are people who will want to make them for whatever reason anyway. Also - as mentioned above, they can be used in space until better technology comes along.
