You've quoted the wrong person.Abako said:The downturn in the economy isnt Bush fucking everything up at the last minute you fool. Also you seem to think that bush took us back 10 year scientifically with massive book burning-esque destruction of science. You really shouldn't think, your clearly not equipped for it.TheKnifeJuggler said:No, I didn't vote for him.
I hope this guy reverses the scaring damage that Bush has brought upon the US in his last few weeks.
And hopefully help advance us back to where we were science wise.
Honestly, I'm pretty damn excited.
WAHOO OBAMA IS THE NEXT PRESIDENT
Don't let the shoes hit you on your way out Bush.
(Yes I know Im being rude and completely just flaming instead of presenting a counter-point here but I dont feel like a debate)
I'd have to agree with the ideal of "corporatocracy," and I'm just about as Liberal as the come. I really do believe that we would be better under some form of representational democracy...something along the lines of what other westernized European nations have. I feel that the peoples voices are better served under that form of government.Grampy_bone said:As a democrat, I voted for him and I'm certainly happy that he won, but I think a lot of wide-eyed idealists out there are going to be disappointed when he doesn't just wave a magic wand and fix everything.
It's true that the average American has fared far, far better under democrats than republicans, but we're still ruled by a single-party corporatocracy with two factions. One of them just throws us a bone more often than the other.
This is sorta how I feel. I'm a republican, but I also wasn't too impressed with either candidate. I voted for McCain more because I'm strongly anti-abortion (ironic, because I'm positive McCain was fairly pro-abortion right up until he was nominated, that worm.)johnx61 said:I didn't vote for Obama. But to be perfectly frank I wasn't impressed with either major candidate.
But it's a done deal now, he'll be in office in about 4 weeks. At this point I've decided to give Obama the benefit of the doubt. I won't call the guy out on anything until he's actually does screw things up.
Honestly though, I'm much more scared of the idiots in congress then I am of Obama.
And let Obama smoke cigs. =P

This is absolutely true, and another reason why an Obama win is so great - Obama's campaign was financed through donations from individuals and grassroots organizations, not campaign contributions from corporations and lobbyists. The reason that America is such a "corporatocracy" is because politicians are repaying the favors that they owe to their financiers - lobbyists and special interest groups wouldn't spend the money if they didn't expect to be repaid in beneficial legislation, after all. Because Obama doesn't have this obligation, he's in a much better position to enact policies for the people rather than the corporations and fatcats.Grampy_bone said:It's true that the average American has fared far, far better under democrats than republicans, but we're still ruled by a single-party corporatocracy with two factions. This is another one of the reasons that I was so against McCain, actually. Obviously, I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum from you, but I always felt that McCain was one of the good guys on the Republican side - I felt his opinions were based in his experiences, that he really was the "straight talker." I feel that during the Republican leadership race, McCain realized that he's getting older and that if he didn't make it to President this time, he never would. In order to gain the popularity that he needed to get the nomination, he sold out to the worst of the Republican party - he went for base appeals to the religious right and single-issue voters. I would have been much happier with an old McCain presidency than I would have with several of the Democratic candidates, but early on in the race it became clear that he was no longer the old McCain.Samurai Goomba said:This is sorta how I feel. I'm sorry I hurt your delicate little feelings. You must be on your menstrol. Do you wan't me to get you some chocolate flavored midol? By quoting me you must seriously think I care about your meaningless gripe. Oh boo hoo he posted a topic that may cause a disagreement. Or there might be a similar thread. Who cares? Apparently your the only one who does.chronobreak said:Your attitude is horrible, dude. You don't care if there is another thread? You don't bother to check? Posting here must not mean that much to you, by that standpoint. You made a post to specifically divide people, asking if they voted for him or not, with no substance behind your reasons. Also, you ask us to vote for something, and there is no poll. This is not a good thread to have, amn. Nothing good can come of it, and you should know this.DethFan666 said:Why do you guys think of him? Tell me oh and if there is another thread of this I don't care. So don't bother me with your nautical nonsense. Just tell me if you like the man or not. And also if you like you can vote whether you voted for him or not. And to answer anyones question. I do not vote becasue. I did not like any of the candidates this year.
All members of the Escapist forums care. If you don't like our way of doing things, deal with it or be flamed.DethFan666 said:I'm sorry I hurt your delicate little feelings. I agree.Arcticflame said:I find it hard to know the truth of a man behind the façade of lies all politicians reside in. You just have to guess.
Your spelling is terrible. You didn't even spell "Barack Obama" right in your poll, which you added after I said you didn't have one. You are welcome for that, no need to thank me. I have no idea what being on "menstrol" is, perhaps you could use an actual word if you want to insult me next time. I said nothing about there being a similar thread, even though there's many of them, if you would have bothered to do a search. Look, these forums have a certain decorum, and I'm proud to be a part of an intelligent community with dedicated posters who respect each other. You, on the other hand, have nothing but disrespect for other peoples opinions, and it shows.DethFan666 said:I'm sorry I hurt your delicate little feelings. You must be on your menstrol.
