Before he was elected I was warning people that all he had going for him was a silver tongue. Sure it is nice actually having a president who can pronounce words correctly and string a coherent sentence together. Obama truly makes love to the language and that is well and good.
Yet I still can not fathom how people rallied to his 'message of change' without asking the vital question: What change would that be. They did so without thinking, defending themselves from 'Obama haters' who might of just mentioned the fact they should research their candidate a little better. No not the real morons who hated him for being a D or being black, but the people who wanted to know what his positions really where... he wasn't saying, even with all that fine language.
No one bothered to pondering the follow up question of: How to bring this change about, given the whole system is broke? Even I didn't think to heavily on this one, on just how someone who really wanted to bring change could A) Get elected in the first place and B) bring about change in a system designed to be a field of landmine for all good intentions.
So I sadly have to say most Obama followers wanted a feel good moment and nothing more. They wanted just to elect someone with charisma to distance themselves from the prior brain dead president and that is what they got... a guy with Charisma and not much else going for him. I really wish it wasn't so, Obama is a nice guy over all from what I have seen, but he promised very little and is going to deliver even less regardless of what we think on him.
