For those of you who don't know, so far President Obama has been in office for 100 days. This obviously has led to pundits all over America (and elsewhere) to spontaneously begin considering whether Barack Obama has been effective and/or good president over that time period. Obviously some polling is in order. Also, feel free to justify your opinion.

Honestly, I feel anything and everything he did was overshadowed by the economy, so I have no clue. I mean, the pundits talked about two things: the economy, and Obama's dog, neither of which I can really form an opinion from.

Really, its his first hundred days. He has been fighting opposition from day one and other events have overshadowed any good he has done. Its too early to say really.

it is too early to judge him, but i think that this man has some talent. what i have seen in the first 100 days i thought pretty good. unlike bush, who probably made his first scandal on the 2nd day.

Yeah, it's kinda soon to ask. He DID close Gitmo, but that was balanced out by this unpredictable stimulus thingy.

I hate the media, instead of offering valid advice on what to do, or good explanations for what's going on, they go "OMG OBAMAS PUPPIE!!!".

It's really too early to judge him. We can only really judge a presidents years after his term is over.
Yes, because nobody judged Bush until January 21st 2009. Ever.

If you want my opinion, I voted for him on the basis that he wasn't as bad as McCain. As a 19-year-old college student who proudly states my political views as simply "I hate politicians", I think Obama has done a wonderful job not meeting expectations of change. He's pretty much abandoned a ton of his more prominent campaign promises, like transcending partisan politics, a pragmatic focus, and no more "politics as usual". Unlike some of my now-disillusioned friends, I went in knowing that Obama was a dirty politician just like the rest of them, and I'm accordingly unsurprised with his failure.

We shall see how he does.

Thus far, I'm unsure. He pulled a hypocritical move with the hiring of one cabinet member, but then closed up Gitmo. Then he released the stimulus package which seems to be more trouble than it's worth. How can the American people be sure what money goes where, and whether it will be used for a good cause? What's more, will we pay the price?

Only time will tell.

Just because you hate Bush (legitimately with some good reasoning), that doesn't mean you can make up history to suit your views. Back up your assertion with fact/justification, or shut up. From what I remember Bush's presidency was pretty uneventful for the first year or so.

I wasn't super-duper against Gitmo so I didn't see him closing it down as a huge deal. I really have nothing to say becuase I expect him to be an entirely mediocre president. Not bad, but nothing that we will reminisce 50 years from now. I think his potential has been extremely blown out of proportion.

its not as if hes abandoning them its his first 100 days there is a economy needed to fix and its not like you can fix anything over night besides people really don't know how little power the President has...

I know what you mean. It's odd, the media is almost treating him as a novelty, rather than the president.

Man, you need to realize that politics don't change much at all. Most candidates have no idea what can even be accomplished during their Presidential term, so they all promise shit they cannot do.

I mean, President Bush promised NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND, and it worked WORSE than the previous system. Bush Senior promised "no new taxes" and federal income tax added three new tax items. Nixon promised to change how Congress worked. Carter promised that he'd change Cuba in a year.

So to have the expectation that someone WILL change the present state of politics is ludacris. However, the fact that they want to change is a positive sign that they at least acknowledge the present problems at hand. Then the President has to convince Congress to go along with public policy. Which is near to impossible how the present political parties work.

I have to hand it to Obama - his foreign policy is way better than the previous one. I can't say anything about his economic policy until I see exactly how it starts impacting us at the end of the quarter.

He hit the ground running like he said he would and has been working hard. At least, he isn't sitting on a ranch in the middle of nowhere twiddling his thumbs while the world falls to pieces.

He's right, as much as I didn't like Bush, he didn't really do anything until late 2001. To me, you can never tell how good someone is while in office. It's only after they left you can see the good/harm they've done. Sort of like console wars. Won't know the winner until the next round.

Are we intentionally shortening his name to Obam?
If so, it seems pretty bloody unnecessary.
Hey man, we have way to many important things to do. And A gets used all the time. It's not really fair to the other 26 letters of the alphabet, especially the last three. Plus, A got vowel-ship. It's very overrated.

This is the internet, so I feel I should state that this is sarcasm.

it'a only the first 100 days so it's impossible to tell. But Obama has done some irresposible things like declassifying CIA memos which right there is a threat to national security. His argument is that we're not respecting the moral rights of terrorists whose minds have been screwed up so much be extreme Islam philisophy. Although Obama doesn't care about the cons of the that decision because if 9/11 repeat happens he can just blame Bush like we do every other problem in the world. Also, his campaign promises were a load of BS but that doesn't come as any surprise to m because he is a polotician. I'm almost tempted to say this country died on Nov. 4th but again, too early to tell.

They did kind of hype the election up to the point that the results thereof are more of an afterthought. He's being treated as a novelty because the media loves him, they don't know what to do since they can't obsess about the election, and all the journalists are afraid to insult him because of the whole race thing (me and my fellow jews run the news, and most of us American jews happen to be white, meaning we don't get to criticize black people without the NAACP or Jesse Jackson getting involved).

The difference there is that at the beginning of his first term, there wasn't much for Bush to do. Bush came into power during a very stable period. Obama came into office amidst some serious problems.
