Oblivion for me, I could never really get into Fallout 3 for some reason. It's a good game, I enjoy playing it and all, I just personally don't see what's THAT good about it.

I loved them both, but I enjoyed the combat more in Fallout 3. The VATs aiming system was handy for a guy like me who sucks at shooters and the big sprawling battles in Oblivion tended to get a little cluster-fucky. That being said, I think I spent a lot more time with Oblivion just because of the amount of stuff you could do. Taking over the guilds, running around dungeons, turning yourself invisible and nicking stuff out of peoples pockets. All good times.

Fallout I like a bit better maybe because of the shoosting, but I guess I never got into Oblivion much so thats most likely why because people say Oblivion is better
Oblivion over Fallout - because I am a fantasy buff anyway! Don't get me wrong, I like both - but if I have to choose I'll always pick the fantasy game.
I even got Oblivion for the PC in its latest release so I can take advantage of all the mods online and make my own experience!

Fallout 3's got triumphs over Oblivion in some ways- better combat, and *some* of the characters are better thought out, and the locations and ruins actually have some sense to them, but in general terms i preferred Oblivion.
Namely, i preferred the Oblivion environment. The environment for Fallout 3 comes in three colours- brown, grey and a tiny bit of green (and seriously, how many other games have that colour scheme?) The Oblivion environment is lush and full of interesting fauna and flora, making it a pleasure to go out on a bout of wanderlust around the Cyrodiil countryside. It's a feast for the eyes, and chances are you'll come back with a bag full of loot which will fetch a good price at the nearest shop. If i went out wandering in the Capital Wasteland, i'll have been glad to have made it back to civilisation alive and in one piece. I would have wasted a lot of precious ammunition on rad-scorpions and super-mutants, and found scarce little loot for it, and lost a lot of health which can't be regenerated by use of a simple healing spell.
Fallout 3 in my view was harder than Oblivion for the above mentioned reasons, it's still a damn good game though. On balance though i prefer Oblivion, Oblivion was simply more fun and enjoyable for me than Fallout 3.

yeah, you kind of put me in an impossible choice here. both games are absolutely great. all i can say is, play fallout first. they play very similarly, though there is so much more to be enjoyed in oblivion, and it is a good bit more complicated. though that is not to say fallout is worse, just simpler. and it has some nice dlc tooDannyJBeckett said:
The issue I found with Fallout (new vegas that is) that i find im generally abit more hesitant to piss off every man under the sun and go thieving at every opportunity because I know that every man and his dog are armed with guns.

only because you can play for 100s of hours and not be bored of it. i only average 30-40 hour playthroughs with Fallout

Yep, Bethesda is a phenomenal company, TES and Fallout are both fantastic games. Although I think I have had more fun with Fallout (because I have only played Oblivion, yet have played both Fallout 3 and New Vegas).DannyJBeckett said:
