*nervously laughs*

Honestly though, online and in real life I swear, i'm lewd and generally immature (the exception being work). Might as well advertise it, saves time for everyone involved.

My mileage on "obscene" usernames varies a bit according to my own personal preferences but overall they do lower my opinion of the user at least a little bit, since it's like they want to annoy me simply with their mere name or call for attention.

I don't react to it though, and certainly wouldn't "automatically block" someone over such a trivial matter, just don't expect me to be your best buddy and it might be a good reason for me not to accept a friend invite if it's tossed my way, and it's probably for the best for us both. For the record no one's user name here counts , stuff like "ass" for instance don't register, I'm talking about more explicit user names specifically made to conjure up some not very nice imagery.

The "Dixie Normous" example given by some I wouldn't consider "obscene" either and if anything I'd find it actually kinda creative and respect the person for not simply having "Dick Enormous" (also id give a pass to Bigus Dickus since its a life of brian reference) but even that is still not quite what I'd count as obscene, you'd need to throw in references to bowel movements and rape there at least.

Guess what I'm trying to say is a swear word or 2 ain't a big deal, but if the username is intended to be very vulgar then I see it as the user being a bit obnoxious.

I haven't had any obscene usernames but I have had stupid usernames that I made when I was about 12 and wish I could change. A prime example is my PSN name, it's a shame you can't change that.

I've never use obscene names. If you want to gain respect from others, then, you yourself will do it for your own.

My name describes discomfort caused by something online and it has a swear in it, but it's named after my internet router. I made it when I wasn't feeling very witty, which is always, and have grown fond of it. If you see this name on the net, chances are it's me. On forums where I think I'd get filtered, I use PITAI.
I can second that. I would never speak my EA account or any other forcefed BS account username in polite company.

I don't use obscene names, but I do say some pretty obscene things in games sometimes. I don't mind others using obscene names all that much. I'd say it'd be hypocritical of me to mind something like that. But that's just me.

I remember vividly that, in one of the few times that I ventured into Battle.net for Warcraft III, I came across someone named 'Ass Wank'.

And it's lodged inside my memory.

*Wonders if his name fits in the Narcissistic God/master category*

OT: I don't think I actually hate them so much as I prefer good usernames, which for me means a knickname you could use AFK I guess. It's nice when someone has a name that works well when spoken [footnote]or when shortened and spoken[/footnote], like Taco, Sheep, Imp, or Tizzy. Those are good ones.

My brother's gamertags on Xbox Live were "Turd Burgle" and "Ninja Poopa"

Hehe... I'll admit that I did make a couple throwaway accounts on Xbox Live that were incredibly obsecene(a bunch of friends from my old clan did so too, actually) and I still find it humorous when I come across over-the-top or clever ones. I tend to stay professional with my actual accounts though.

I feel the same way about my PSN name... I mean, it will forever be an acronym for "****-Fucking Jezebel" with the "92" part standing for which sex position I would enjoy the most...

But seriously, How was I suppose to know that the "CFJ92" I used for my PSP's Media Go account would end up as my PSN name for life, basically?

Honestly juvenile obscenity marks people as less-than-likely for me to like or talk to. I mean if you really feel that its "unique" or makes you "cool" or whatever variety of that word, then you probably don't have a high maturity level to begin with. I mean I don't get down on people for it publicly, but I'm more likely to ignore folks who go out of their way to be obscene.
I'm not a prude, I just feel if you've not even a modicum of creativity to choose a handle that doesn't involve such, yeah... it does mark people in my first glance judgement as probably someone I won't associate with.
If its a temporary joke, or something that might change things for me though. Like I've done odd names back in the Quake days just for fun, but I was also younger and tossing out throwaway handles on different matches out of boredom.
Eventually I did stick to a non-obscene handle and never bothered to do it again. But I don't take people with obscene usernames seriously, nor do I listen to much, if at all, of what they have to say because in experience it generally is some kid (or adult who never matured) that is reminiscent of Xbox-Live chat. Basically a bunch of bullshit I mute in a heartbeat because its so juvenile and annoying.

If I can freely change my name, I switch it for a quick laugh.

JesusChristSuperStar was killed by Judas
Lincoln was killed by JWBooth

Vulgarity for vulgarity and shock value isn't that funny. A player named Ebola slaughtering with blood magic is funny.

What can I say, I'm a fan of the pink pone.
I don't have the xXx stuff though, so does it count?
