Not something i've ever done. or ever had to do. I'm engaged so hopefully will never get to the point where I have to.

I think the biggest issue it trust, can you really trust who you are talking to? Apart from getting them to take a picture with them holding todays paper lol
LMAO...

I'll give you that.

For some reason you just reminded me of 419eater.

419eater? Is that the username of a member on here?
http://www.419eater.com/html/hall_of_shame.htm

It's a site dedicated into trolling Nigerian money scams by making them do stupid things to get the money, and then not sending it. Faking out fake people =p.

Call me crazy but I like to actually be able to hold this person I'm supposed to be with.
Emotional connections can only go so far but in the end words are just words
You're right.

That's why these people meet up once they're comfortable enough after chatting.

Oh, did you mean hold em the same day you meet them? Yeah, bars, clubs, and parties are a lot better for that route.

Well not like that, I mean there is always the off chance when meeting someone online that you're going to wake up in a bathtub full of ice.

You people are way too suspicious imo. You do know that most people who meet over the internet webcam before meeting IRL? Also they tend to have talked for a good long while too.

That's funny, because I hang out around cars outside bars with chloroform when I need a kidney or two.

Exactly.

A lot of these posters are treating it like a blind date.

i'll admit i'm pretty surprised by the overwhelming reaction to online dating here.

not so much that people aren't into it as something they'd do themselves, but that there's such stigma attached to it.

with the "invention" and mainstream acceptance of social networking sites, i guess i just thought that some of those stigmas would have changed a bit since the last time i met someone online.

learn something new daily?

Those kidneys are bad, too much alcohol. Need to get them young and fresh. Try high schools

I'm in 2 year relationship but I think its a lot more fun doing it the old fashion way. However I admit it might be easier to find your dream girl over the internet as there are more people on the internet then there are at your local.

I guess so. The stigma still exists in full force it seems.

I on the other hand lack shame, pride, and the desire to meet strangers who by and large don't match up with me.

I just want someone who isn't going to give me up, or perhaps let me down, or go around town and desert me. Someone who won't make me cry, or say goodbye, tell a lie, or hurt me.

Someone who's never going to give, never going to give, give me up.

I always thought that people saw it as a sign of weakness.
It is.
Why is that? People seek out partners in pubs, work, pictures, bus stops, street corners, and dolphin sanctuaries. Why is it any different seeking it out on the internet?
Lack of being face to face with someone really check my post I made earlier.
Just use a site where you know in advance the kind of person you are hooking up with...
