If you've seen someone post a photo or have a clickable word link ( for example, this [http://www.google.com/]), then you have seen the use of BB code. It's brother is HTML, the use of which I"m unsure of. But anyway . . .

Do you use BB code in your Escapist posting? And if so to what extent? Do you have trouble remembering some of the code?

Personally, I always for get how to have the clickable link word, as shown above. Everything else is pretty easy, except when it took me a while to realize [size] and [color] (I think) don't work on this site.

What do you think of the code?

Yes I do use BB code and I think it's just swell, it's easy to use and is good for when you really need to make a point.

[HEADING=2]Size!!!!!!![/HEADING] is [small]kindof fun...[/small]

But only if its green!

Youtube embedding is fun, but its subject to removal. Quickstatus.

[ youtube=(numeral&letter content after = sign in youtube url) ]

Oh, and image embedding!

[ img ] image url [ /img ]

And thats about all i use.

[HEADING=2]This is my opinion on the code and your post[/HEADING]
I'm not sure about sizes other than [ small ] which I know we have, but I know we have [small]this type of colouring,[/small] you just need to use the right word for colour, like green, blue, purple, cyan, red, yellow, pink etc. you can also use hex code.
but there's the stuff in the BBcode and you forum [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.55865] they missed embedding youtube and sizes I think.
I also think they missed
Code:
code, though it isn't hugely needed, just for empahsis
But they touch on nearly everything I think.

HTML entities work - ¥∅û ŠΣ∈?
<color=blue>Colours <color=red>work <color=green>quite <color=purple>nicely <color=cyan>too.

Also, <color=white>colouring text white means it only shows up when it's highlighted. Not that there's much use for that, barring mini-spoilers.

I use this code for making quotes, posting URL's and images and maybe using [HEADING=2]BOLD[/HEADING] and [HEADING=2]italics[/HEADING] for when i feel the urge of emphasizing a point

The course of my various threads, I've made us of nearly every flavor of BBCode the forum uses, and even tripping over some odd things in the progress. Most of what I use is the <img_inline> tags. Especially in reviews. I also embolden every username I list in games (except my own, most times.) It's a habit I picked up from another forum, and I've become known for it around here. Beyond that, I also use italics for emphasis, as opposed to all caps like I see used more often.

Beyond that, I use [spoiler] tags in RPs, as well as occasionally using superscripts, color tags, and a handful of other things. I also use all of the headers except [h4].

Of all the tags, I'm most comfortable with the bold tags, since those are the ones I use most often. Simply because of the sheer number of usernames I end up typing over the course of my time here at the forums.

Wilson's Crazy Bed made a great thread about BB code [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.55865] a while back... I'll link it when I get home...

Anyone whose seen one of my more flammable threads will know I use BB code a lot. Italics to emphasize a word and bold to either ask a question or highlight a key point...

Listing points is also another use...

My favourite bands:
  • Muse
    Led Zeppelin
    Tool
    John Butler Trio
    Radiohead

This is created by using this code...

[ list ] insert words here [ /list ]

The only BB code I have yet to learn is how to put a caption into a picture. I've seen it done before but no-one uses it anymore. So if anyone, perhaps the staff can teach me how to do this I'd be really grateful...

use it whenever necessary, like for links, spoilers, quotes and the whole stuff...

i further find it interesting that roughly one third of the poll participants just use the no-point-option for the pure heck of it^^

I click the irrelevant poll option to punish the person who created the poll... Seriously, if you want accurate results DON'T use an irrelevant option. Most polls people make are rubbish anyway, the worst thing they can do is make posting an opinion pointless therefore creating a non-discussion thread. Another is when they try and fit a what is your favourite type of game/film/music/fish/cooking utensil thread because you cannot make an option for everyone. Then there is the biased poll... Why ask for someones opinion then not allow them to select an appropriate option to suit that opinion? Drives me nuts!

The only good use for a poll is to gather statistics to help you make your point or to highlight a common set of opinions...

Sorry Kathinka, that rant wasn't directed at you...

nevermind, enjoyed reading it nethertheless ;D

and it's so true, adding an irrelevant option migt seem funny at the time but will royally screw up the endresult.
not that most polls would matter to beginn with, but still some are interesting and an actual result would be nice :-/

I use it quite frequently, especially for My Reviews [Things that make me feel as cheerful as you mentioned]
