Now I heard "2 side of the coin" overview on this.

One side, people say its good, best they ever played (however one of these guys did say he was playing it on a PC with an XBoX controller.....phtooie.....sacrilige!), and its worth buying. One person who gave it praise was an Afganistan Vet.

Whereas the other side (consisting of the vast majority of the hardcore MIL.SIM enthusiasts and vets from the last OpFP) says its crap, the multiplayer side is non-exsitent, its buggy, hit boxes are all wrong adn the graphics are rubbish (Lord knows where they got that one from, I have seen the graphics and they're pretty damn good!)

Now I never played MIL.SIM's before....actually one...ARMA I...and it was herendous! I played the training mission and thought...."I'm gonna hate this game so much....I'll save myself the high blood pressure!"

Now after looking at OpFP2 I'm tempted to get back into a MIL.SIM, but after a Slating from the populus, I'm not too sure.

Now I got most of these reviews from the Play.com website....I know most people who buy games there are not what you'd say: Gamer Savvie..... so I wanted your guys opinions, since the vast majority know there onions about games.

So has anyone played it yet and can they give me a better opinion on weather to buy, or not to buy?

It is shit, You cannot see anyone in all the green, just like in real life, you get shot 2 times, you die, just like in real life, your teammates anounce everything they see: "Rifleman, at, 300 metres" and overall, it has potential, unfortunatly everything is just a bit too real to actually be fun.

I love the game. It's not perfect, but it's a blast.
Here is a link to the review I did:

It's an alright game. It is NO WAY an Operation Flashpoint game. It's more like Ghost Recon honestly. If you want the true Operation Flashpoint 2, go get ArmA 2. It's a much better soldier simulator, but it has an extremely steep learning curve, something Dragon Rising is rather forgiving on.

Can't say I've played it, but I've watched my friend play it for a good half hour. He was stuck on this part where he had to defend a village. I got the overall feeling the game was difficult (he said he was playing on Normal) from him. Then again, manning a stationary gun emplacement and getting shot by a sniper isn't very smart, so I'd guess it was just him.

I can say for certain that the voice responses sound like an answering machine. They just string together "Contact! " or "Target! is eliminated!"

Then Rainbow Six is more your style I assume. Operation Flashpoint has been and always will be geared towards the hard core mil-sim players and appeals to their desire for realism.

I think that has to do more with nostalgia than anything else. It's more or less just trying to keep a bit of its charm that people who have played Cold War Crisis and Elite would remember.

It's a good game I think. So much better than Arma 2 anyway :p

Edit: Pro tip. Play it on experienced difficulty ;)

It's much more enjoyable with 4 person co-op (dare I say awesome?).
The single player command system for your squad is very clunky, especially so in a full scale fire fight (360 version anyways).
I was unsure about this game at first, but at first I played it in single player.
I recommend this game.

this game is tons of fun, yes there are some issues in the game and the graphics not a 10, and the AI on your side can get screwy...

the game is actually challenging, your will find yourself appreciating this buy.. and if your friends buy it your can do 4 player co-op, which is fun

be warned... this is not your COD type game.. it requires real time strategy and quick thinking.. and a whole lot of DUCK and Cover..

Its alright, but having played Arma 2 I was incredibly worried that when playing it I would want Arma 2's features.

And lo and behold, I do. Its much more polished, optimised, and looks much better.

BUT I still wish it had an awesome editor like Arma 2'.

And the campaign is a bit crap.
