Most likely the same reason people are put on probation for saying they pirate games. While I personally believe that probation for this is a bit excessive, I'm sure if you look, it'll mention this kind of thing in the Code of Conduct.Robot Overlord said:

I personally would never use it, but its not my place to tell people that they should not use it. If they want to smoke pot, let them do it. I choose to seek my fun elsewhere.
I live in central California, pot is bad here in less you have your magical card that suddenly 'OKs' you. I've tried and hell enjoyed it, its not for everyone and it does get abused but the whole thing about pot that is way overblown. Its either seen has a wonder plant that all should you use, or the source of all evil. It's neither its a simple drug like alcohol with simple effects. Using isn't going to kill you or give you epiphany, its just good fun and can be used for some positive medical effects. I say they make it legal already that way the stoners will stop bitching and a year later those really against it will move on to something else and we all can get on with our lives.

I smoke regularly and enjoy it very much. Unlike alcohol (which I also really enjoy), weed doesn't make you stumble or slur your speech, and you remember (mostly) everything the next day. It makes simple activities more enjoyable, and any kind of gaming *way* more enjoyable. I find it stimulates creativity, and lets you think up things you wouldn't normally (just try to write it down or record it while it's still in your head).
Like any other mind-altering substance, you shouldn't put yourself in any situation where you might cause harm to others e.g. driving, operating heavy machinery. Just use common sense.
Marijuana is the only illegal drug which is prescribed by doctors for a variety of medical conditions. And I won't even touch on the myriad uses of hemp.
I personally think it's ridiculous that cannabis is illegal. Legalize it, regulate it and tax it; and stop making criminals out of law-abiding citizens that want to enjoy the effects of a harmless natural substance.

Would love to have some around, you know, like some people keep a small bar for the occasional Saturday thing. Would be a great taxable vice to help balance the budget, which I would gladly pay, but sadly the force is strong with the corporate interests (can't patent nature), so it will probably be a while before we can legalize it.
