Well I was playing Demolition on a map whose name I can't recall and we were attacking (Planting the bomb on enemy territory). We had planted one bomb, so the enemy were camping out at the second. They seemed to be getting a huge killstreak and decided to keep it to themselves for a while.

The next round, the enemy deployed a helicopter, which switly annihialted any of us outside, while they armed the bombs and destroyed our sites, winning the game. Now I had a 0.25 K/D spread. 2 Kills with 8 deaths, 7 of the deaths being from Killstreak rewards.

So I ask you fellow escapists; Are Killstreaks on Modern Warfare 2 Overpowered?

Its supposed to convey realism, cant argue because most of the actual killstreak weapons out there are terrifying. Doubt the taliban ever scream "NOOOOB!" at the ISAF apache choppers.

Plus you can shoot them down too, anyone who calls in one of those monsters probably derserves it seeing as often getting killstreaks in MW2 is quite hard, unless your sad and play it all day

They're dedinitely not OP.

Most of them can be shot down with a stinger/javelin.

Wooty - 'often getting killstreaks in MW2 is quite hard, unless your sad and play it all day' I regularly rack up 30+ killstreaks (my highest being 38) but you dont have to play it all day or be sad to be good at the game.

It frustrates me in multi-round games that the team with the upper hand carries their killstreaks into the next round. More than once I've been on a team that got wiped out because the enemy had a predator missile ready to go as soon as the round started.

Other than that, no they're not overpowered. Aircraft can be shot down, sentry guns can be flanked quite easily. The most frustrating is the predator missile because it seems I'm the only one the enemy goes for (probably because I'm the only one not camping in a corner somewhere). I did get raped by a Chopper Gunner that kept wiping our team at spawn, but the power of the chopper gunner is offset that it actually takes some skill to use because it's so shaky.

Once you get used to avoiding them / shooting them down, they're not too overpowered.

It still amazes me how many people run out into the open in a group when there's an enemy predator missile on the map.

But yeah 1887's are still lolskill, as well as pretty much every other akimbo.

Killstreaks are not particulary overpowered if you use the "Cold-Blooded" perk and Stinger missiles. These were made specifically to counter killstreaks. You can use "One Man Army" and switch to AA class whenever the need arises.

In short, killstreaks are not nearly as overpowered as Double Shotgun Dude. Who is a dog rapist.

I just use cold blooded and a Stinger, usually gets 'em pretty fast.
This, although everyone knows the most OP thing in that game is Akimbo shotguns.
Hardly, I've taken them down at close range with a Tar-21 with Red Dot and Heartbeat monitor. I think the helecopter's and harriers tend to get a bit much after you get gunned down no matter where you are if you even look at the world outside the room your trapped in.
I'm not syaing you can't take them down, but most other weapons give a moment to notice you're being shot at rather than running along a corridoor and BAM! Dead.

whats overpowered is when the guy has a riot shield equipped and blastshield on. Then he can survive a direct hit from a predator missile. And semtex becomes useless.

Meh, I believe there should be more rewarding gameplay for good gamers.
I just realised that I said that like a true elitist. Haha.

Half the time helicopters and harriers dont even manage to get on to map without being knocked out of the sky.

So i cant see how you can complain as its a reward for the other team for KILLING you, stop getting killed by them and they wont get a kill streak.

The thing is that you dont get stinger until lvl 30. May not sound much of a problem since its doesnt take that much time to get there. But shooting down a harrier or heli without stinger is really hard to do alone. The starting missile launcher requires 2 shots to bring them down and you only get one. And yes I'm aware of the scavenger perk. Before I hit lvl 25 I got killed all the time by killstreaks awards, the predator being the worst.

But my point is, for low lvl's its hard to survive because the high lvl player who got the means to shoot them down dont do it.

You... Expect different from the unbalanced Call of Duty multiplayer?
Me? Did I do something Wrong... Ah, my stupidity.
Think of it this way, kiddo. It may be unbalanced and powerful to the other team, but remember this game's trying desperatly to portray the same kind of power expected from the real life versions of the game weapons. (Although its still a game and would have the obvious limitations) So remember, when your being repeatadly shot in the face with a turret, remember the real life equivilent of that turret is being used elsewhere keeping us more or less safe.

Kinda... Sorta...

Oh look, a hand grenade on the floor...
I see what your saying... MW2 is portraying real life.

Which is fair enough, that's just not what I like in a game.

The biggest problem with killstreaks is thus- a team that is doing well will only ever do better.Teams that start badly will get destroyed by killstreaks, resulting in ragequits that only condemn them further. Aside from that, I take great pleasure in shooting down the air support of the smug bastard that has been killing me all day.

Indeed. Furthermore, choppers and harriers can be shot down with many small weapons, like the MG4, if you have Stopping Power Pro. If you have Cold-Blooded too, then, the way I see it, you have the advantage over the vehicle.

For example, I once shot down the attack chopper myself using only a UMP, with the assistance of Perks and a lot of ammunition.

I despise Call of Money: Modern Rehash as much as the next upright sane individual with enough brainpower to challenge a potato in a game of snap.

But skill is skill. And if you've taken the time to earn that skill instead of having sex (etc.) then you should be rewarded.

Just not with sex.
