If you had a choice, would you choose the world, or be able to control what other people think or do. Tell us what you would choose and why.

If I owned the world, I could bribe everybody, thus gaining the control I need.

well, by controlling others, you'd pretty much control the world.
I'd rather not be the leader of a world/nation though.
and I'm not particularly keen on controlling people's thoughs and action.
So I'd probably control the world, then let someone else take command.

If you owned everything int he world where would you put it all! Haha.

Power of total obedience is sweet though, basically set for life.

i mean like brain control vs ruler of the world.
Surely if you had the ability to control the brains of others then you can control the brain of the current ruler of the world..thereby becoming the actual ruler of the world yourself.

Yup, as everyone has said, if you control the minds of others, then you could make yourself ruler of the world. (And not have to worry about pesky rebellions)

No thanks. I think there would be too much responsibility involved in either controlling other people or owning the world for my liking. I picked neither.

I understand where you are coming from, but lets put it this way, even if it doesn't make sense. If you control other people, you can't be ruler of the world. Think of it as not being able to control the brain of the ruler of the world (if there is a ruler).

I'm confused... When you say control the world I assume "lead the population of the world", and that equates to controlling the people...

So i suppose the more direct "control other people" works best...

Well, controlling the world means you are controlling the people.

Unless you mean like, control nature. Because if I could do that, yeah, people would do whatever I say.

"You. Build monuments to my glory."

"But sire, we are so tired..."

"I SHALL CURSE YOU WITH LOCUSTS IF YOU DEFY ME."

Ok, let me try to explain this better. IF you control the world, you can tell people what to do, but they still have there own free will. IF you control their minds, you control EVERYTHING they do. You just can't call yourself ruler of the world or have any of the privliges a world ruler would have.

The latter leads to the former.
Theres just a smidge of insanity involved in there too, not to mention the... um... terrible ending. (Hooray! No spoilers)

In a way the OP is a falacy, the world is its people and the people are the world. While both remain seperate, you cannot choose to rule one or the other, you must address both. If you dont, you fail.

I will not play the OPs game, I am neutral on this matter.

Controling nature counts if you rule the world. Like everything in the world is at your fingertips and at your disposal.
