Poll: paintball vs. airsoft

Airsoft! Gentleman's game, as we where I live rely on raising our hand if we get hit... as for the pain if you get shot where it hurts... one of us has been hit in the ear three times, in serious matches, and I've been executed (as well as all the others) by getting shot in the back at point blank range, and took it like a man, and I'm a wuss by nature!

Also, it goes without saying I'll rather play a game with realistic looking weapons than the goofy paintball.... things.

Hmm.. Both very good. I would say airsoft. The imersion is just better. Anyone can do paintball and its the same overalls, mask and a gun with a massive box on top. Airsoft you get custom weapons, and (moslty) honnorable players. Besides you get grenade launchers in airsoft. GRENADE LAUNCHERS!

In scenario paintball their are more than just grenade launchers. We have tanks, land mines, remote detonated mines, grenade launchers, and just about anything the scenario producer can dream of. Try one of the larger scenario games if you really want immersion. I believe Oklahoma D-Day had 4000 plus at their last game. Their is nothing like being in a battle of that size for a complete adrenalin rush

I enjoy both to tell the truth, though airsoft is cheaper and easier to play. Paintball has something to say in that it has a certain chaos to it and is usually more fast-paced than the air-soft matches I've played. I'd pick airsoft over paintball if it came down to it, that G&G M16A3 in my closet being no small part.

Airsoft > Paintball, imo. Just like the look of the guns.

I have a Tippmann X7 and have been playing paintball for over 6 years now on a fairly decent Scenario Paintball team (with about 15 dependable members)..

Our team focuses on 24hr events over two days and specialize at night play.

Airsoft is cool but playing as a 10 man team and trying to ambush an enemy base at 1am is tough to do in Airsoft. Not to say you couldnt try but I doubt, at least with my airsoft experience (small grps of friends and nothing commercial).

And I would say my Marker looks and feels much more authentic than any other Airsoft peice I have held.

I guess you've only been shot with a gun that fires at low speed, or you wore too much clothing.

If you catch a spray from a 440fps rifle on bare skin it hurts like hell

I chose airsoft as it looks a lot more intense. And from my two experiences of paintball, were the gun uses a holding thing and the pellets fall into place, it always blocks the left side, which is annoying if you are left handed, and from what I have seen of airsoft, the guns have proper magazines.

Probably airsoft. Reason 1: If you're not comepletely hardcore, it's cheaper. Reason 2: It is just so much more realistic.

airsoft is more realistic in terms of the guns you use and its not as messy so it can be played indoors (away from the TV). not to mention you dont have to waorry about dicks freezing their airsoft pellets just to hurt people.

Airsoft feels more real, and doesn't use gigantic bulky paintballs. Still, I like paintball as well, but it never feels as much of a fight as airsoft does. Pain doesn't much matter to me. I wear a heavy-duty leather jacket that could stop someone from cutting me with an axe.


Hard to find many airsoft areans around here though. Everyone prefers paintball, and all most people can say why paintball is better than airsoft is "it hurts more, and is therefore a more manly sport."

Airsoft guns are also quite customizable and much nicer looking than paintball guns. Especially the replica paintball guns that are twice the damn size of the gun they replicate.

I vote paintball and unlike maybe a few people on this thread I've played it too.* Anyway I also kind of agree with Lios I wear enough armour (above not below sadly) to stop me from feeling even a bit warm if I went into the sun

Basically, I'm only wearing one layer of thin, camouflaged clothing on top of nothing... (Not counting my boxers, obviously), because it's too fucking hot otherwise, so yeah, I can feel it. Even more fun after getting hit, and you still feel the remaining mid-air bullets trace a way up to your leg to your nutsack.
And as already said by me and others, airsoft guns look a lot nicer.. I'd rather have a customizable little bastard than a huge... toy-looking goofball : |
But, seeing where you're from I can get why you'd rather want paintball.. (I hope those don't have the funny little orange things on the end of the barrel that people need in order to not be paranoid? xD; )

hrm imo airsoft is much funner paint balling is fun too but airsoft has much more realism (you have your snipers and assaults and shottys n stuff) which just makes it for me also u dont get covered in paint which is an added bonus! lol

that is true but how about watching your friend who acts all tough. Thinks he is cool just just screaming like a little girl. and this was during airsoft. but shooting someone in the face mask is truly a satisfying moment in any paintball game.
