Poll: Paintballing or airsoft?

I like airsoft more, mostly because it's cheaper. I also don't like the large CO2 tanks that are required for paintball...kinda gets rid of any realism.

I've done both and Airsoft is the best in my opinion. As opposed to comparing them to boring games I'll make it simple.

Do you like getting paint thrown at you and masochism? Go for paintball.

Do you like not having 14 year olds squeal in glee as they perform the above, with the added benefit of getting as close to real guns as you can without paying through the nose for a permit? Airsoft is for you.

Of course, I could go on longer with my comparisons but there is really no need. Now, please excuse me, I'm off to fine-tune my WW2 British para kit in time for my next WW2 themed game. That Sten Gun won't buy itself.

Can someone explain how airsoft is more "realistic"? (herp derp) I mean, barring the fact that paintball fields often have speedball courses which certainly feel more "sporty", they're functionally the same. Same physics, same game mechanics (as it were), same problems, same rules, same nuances, same tactics, the only differences is that airsoft guns look a little more realistic. (Although I have, in fact, seen someone who modded their marker into an incredible replica of an m16, with bottom loading mags and everything)

That being said, I'm fine with both, and I think they're both functionally equal. I happen to prefer paintball because it has greater variety and a bigger community, but I get annoyed by all the airsoft people on their high-horse going "Look at me! Look at me! We're so much more realistic and hardcore!" No you're not, you're still playing with toy guns, just like us.

I unfortunately am biased towards paintball, since AUSTRALIA DOESN'T FUCKING ALLOW AIRSOFT AT ALL. Seriously, goddamn it's annoying, I've always been interested in it and I occasionally look up some cool guns on websites like evike.com, but I can't buy anything because customs will snap it over their knee in it gets imported. :/

Seriously tho, I would love each of them equally, but paintball wins because I can actually play it here.

Aussie here. Never even heard of airsoft before. Paintball however, is awesome.

I am a paintballer, airsoft never exactly peaked my interest, and it has yet to. For those of you who haven't tried it, I would recommend it! If your bored with a few friends on a weekend give it a swing!

I've never played Airsoft, Paintball rocks though... smacking someone dead center in the face and watching them stumble around blind trying to wipe the paint from their mask is great.
