it's a very simple question, but im taking AP Environmental science, which my father refers to as tree-hugger class, and its a topic for debate in the Green-craze society has been evolving into. What are your thoughts on a simple decision of paper or plastic that actually has major environmental impacts, of which i will spare the details unless people want to hear me rant.

I use those tote bags that you can get to save some trees and plastic. 5 cent discount per item at the place, too.

We really should have reusable bags so we can cut down less trees just to get the food home, but if it's possible then I suppose paper. As we can always plant more trees and recycle it

well ive heard that paper bags take 4 to 6 times the energy to produce than plastic and cut down trees,

and plastic bags can be returned to the store to reuse them, and you can reuse them for your own personal uses like those small trash bins that a normal trash bag is way to big for

I usually use plastic, because not many stores around me use paper anymore. And I use one of those tote bags when I go rent a game or DVD. Lol.

yes but plastic is non-biodegradable and expensive to recycle/reuse(in the sense that its being sent to a factory to be recycled/reused)

And have every person on location question my sexuality? I think not!

I'll stick to plastic. Sure, it's killing the planet, but I'll be damned if I get inconvenienced for the sake of Earth.

Earth is a big boy, I think it can handle itself.

Taking environmentally stuff out of the equation, i just prefer paper.

As food packaging or whatever, it just has a nicer texture and feels more natural. My first thought is "yay nature stuff" as opposed to "oh no, horrible chemically plastic stuff".

Depends on where I'm going. Some places I take my own tote bags, but others (or if I forget) I use plastic. Since I'm single I don't generate that much waste, the bags get reused as garbage bags. Hey, if a place wants to give me free garbage bags, who am I to complain...?
