While not a human parasite, those insect/grub/alien hellspawn creatures that swim into a fish's mouth and then replace their tongue are about the most horrific I've seen.

This is purely speculation from were i live and ticks are worse because mosquitos bite and leave that usually don't leave anything hanging around, well around here except that west nile a few years back. Ticks just do more harm here along the middle to upper US, from what i've seen the death toll probably contradicts me a bit.
