PC all the way because I just prefer it and how it runs. That and how portable it is. Although I do like Mac.

Well firstly I'm going to say that at some point in this thread a shit storm Mac vs PC argument will arise so I'm gonna get my comment in before that happens. I choose Mac because I have always used Macs and because of that they just make more sense to me. I have always and will always use Macs. Not the best gaming support (although it is getting much better), but that's what my PS3 is for.

You missed the third option, "don't care."

Most everything I use today has a Mac version--including the games I play--so it wouldn't really make that much of a difference as far as what I actually do with it.

What I paid for it is another matter.

A-a-and, ninja'd by the first post. Although, even Windows vs OS X isn't a perfect one, since I'll be struck there choiceless and running Linux. Although if the question really was between the two, I'd probably go for Windows - more gaming oriented platform than OS X. And that's mostly the reason I use Windows. Oh, and I dislike Apple, so there is that.

I feel like this XKCD is applicable here:

But for me I prefer PC. I've always used one, and I don't do anything that a Mac supposedly does better

Mac. I despise using Windows OSes, and Mac is more convenient for me than Linux.
Also, while the hardware is more pricy, I have weird computer juju going on, and when Apple hardware lasts 2-3 times longer than any PCs and is far more reliable, the pricepoint thing goes out the window with my personal situation, now doesn't it?
That being said, I do think Windows suit more people than Mac, but I don't think there's a universal "best." Its all about personal preference and situation.

Hackintoshes make the pricepoint argument far less relevant.

Just wondering....what do you mean by "hardware lasting longer than pc"?

Also a installing macOS on anything other than a mac makes steve jobs angry (aka, against their EULA).

Mac.

It works best for me since I do a lot of audio editing and it's much better than doing it on a PC. Also, I've had way more problems with Windows and PCs than I do with Macs, but that just be my luck but whatever.

I will say the Mac that I have now made my bank account cry bitterly, shit ain't cheap!

I choose PC because I think guys like Steve Jobs are/were the scum of the world and they nor their companies will ever see one red cent from me. I hate absolutely everything that Macs' stand for in the business world.

I've long been curious about making a Hackintosh. Have you done it?
Tonymacx86.com. Have fun, if you build it right and take care of it you will never desire another computer style in your life ever again. I advise you do backup your files and keep a spare Mac partition to access them, just in case.

I saw Windows 8 the other day...it made me cry :-( Not only does it look like tablet stuff, it looks like cheap knockoff tablet software. *shudder*

OT: I use both at various times. Since I grew up through DOS then Windows, I generally use Windows PCs. There is also the gaming thing, and the fact that my work/laboratory computers are all PCs. Well, one's a NI PXI, which is worse than either, but that's beside the point.

I have nothing specific against macs, except that in terms of hardware you always seem to pay more to get less. Sure, they're pretty, but...seriously?

Yeah it looks terrible... and they think they're making it up for us by packaging what is extensively windows 7 with it as well... I mean you have a choice between the new, windows 8 interface or Windows 7 interface... with absolutely nothing changed expect the start up is only accessible through the tablet interface for some reason... and it's such a pain in the ass to navigate with a mouse and is hell to multi task windows in that format... so much dragging... there's no reason you can't just click... it's what a mouse was made for...>.<

OT: I prefer windows... it's a lot more open and has so much more support compared to MAC... especially with games... I mean the open source nature of it is really it's big draw... especially considering how much control you have over the system... even hardware wise it's easier to control your system... mostly because it's allowed and access to the BIOS is an option...<.<

Looks like my penchant for AMD CPUs (the only Intel in my house is my laptop, an older dual core) is gonna make things...interesting. >.>

Maybe I'll put it off til I have money to do a new build.

Mac vs Windows would be a better question.
Damn it! I was going to say that!!
