I was thinking about the price of becoming a premium member on here. It costs 20$ for a year, and in the page for it says it is merely the cost of pennies a day. (About 5 and a half)
Now, if I do subscribe though, I will be spending the 20$ all at once, which is too much for me as all I have right now is about 60$ which I have no intentions of spending right now.
But if I could do a sort of payment plan that allowed me to just pay the 5 and a half cents a day, I would be more inclined to do it.

Not the first subscription or charity or whatever to use the phrase, but most of the time you have to pay each payment all at once. What I am asking is, would you prefer to actually pay pennies a day? That means being billed EVERY day, but only spending 5 or 10 or 15 or 20 cents a day.

Even better if you could end the subscription at any point, but even if not would be easier to maintain on tighter budgets.

EDIT: I mean for ANY such thing, including MMO's and Xbox Live, not JUST The Escapist.

I don't think a over time thing is really needed for a price so low, but if the option of like paying 10 dollars every 6 months was there that would be pretty reasonable.

They'd never do that. There's a reason that it costs you less overall when you pay for a whole year than it would if you paid month by month. That's because even calculating all those transactions costs money, calculating the cost for daily made cent transactions is rediculous. You pay less in the long run when you pay more in the short run because by paying all at once you're simplifying things for the accounting department. If you want premium membership then just wait until you're comfortable spending the $20 and get it then.

Well, thats the company's side perhaps, but I am asking for the sake of your own wallet.

I still think I'll stick with the lump sum. No need to make my banking statement look any more rediculous than it looks already.

It would be great to just stop paying all at once, but for some reason the idea of pennies a day bothers me still. Its like...some theory of me forgetting and then they get another 5 cents out of me, and then I forget again. Or I don't want to pay anymore, but something comes out next week and I want that so I don't want to have to hassle with stopping payment and then renewing it the next day.

Yeah...I'll stick with the payment plans they have already.

I'd rather not be bothered to add another daily chore to my list. Annual payments are fine by me. But I can see how it could be better for some folks.

Well, it could also help in such a situation. If you think you ended it, but did not, you will have more and much cheaper reminders than finding out a year later you got billed another 20 for escapist or 60 for xbox live.

I suppose so, but its all about convenience when it comes to these(and transaction losses/gains). I pay the monthly fee for Xbox live, but its nice to give myself that months notice of, hey, I'm not gonna be playing anything else for the next month or so, so let me just cancel this for now. The Escapist...thats a different story. I paid the 10 dollars since I felt like chipping in for the site. Now that it'll be 20 dollars next time it rolls around, I'm sure I'll do the same (if I still frequent the site), since I really enjoy the site.

I don't know, while I feel like the pennies a day idea does work in some cases...it just seems like more of a bother then anything else.

My problem lies with it being in USD. Yes. Its 20USD which for what they are offering is actually way too much. But then what about AUD or NZD? 25AUD, 30 NZD. For 1 year of this...
Seriously guys. Make it something reasonable like 10 a year or say 20 for 3 years and it may be worth while.
But as it is, what do you really offer that other sites do not already provide for free?
What are the other curriencies you mentioned?
I don't intend on paying for premium for this site, as it does not seem like it offers much, but some sites can get carried away with it.

If $60 is the amount of money you'll have for the rest of the year, don't become a premie. Itherwise, pony up the $20, you'll still have $40, which is more than I have.

Buying Splinter Cell, Two Worlds, and some other games, and clothes (as I am lacking) is more important than making my own title instead of "Copy Clerk".
