To confirm, the PSP version does not has "The Answer". I know this as fact. The appeal of the PSP version is that you have what you have in a compact and easy to carry form (Not bad at all.) and yes, the possible different perspective. That said, I haven't PLAYED the PSP version. Should I take this thread as a recommendation myself, as I've played FES?
Well, if you want to have a second go at the game and are willing to pay, the portable edition is probably your best choice. You can play as a different gender, the combat is better and, as you pointed out already, you can carry it around with you.

Yep Content and Graphix P3 FES
and If your pc is strong enough I'd even try it out on pcsx2 for very nice graphics^^ also you could save anywhere if you wanted (I don't use it) and you can play at faster fps if you can and wanted to.

I definitely recommend it. I actually own the game 3 times now thanks to all these new version they keep pumping out with added content, and I don't regret buying any of them. Playing through the girl definitely gives enough extra content for it to be worth playing through again. There's new social links, new scenes, new dialogue, new music, you can control all party members, and the equipment system has been altered a bit. Much more than I was expecting from it.

Yeah, same, I owned and loved the very very first P3, then got FES, then then P3P. (though all of those were the Japanese versions thus the FES one wasn't an actual bunch with p3 but just "the answer")

I was just playing the first version of Persona 3 on my PS3 the other day when I noticed that I have an issue with the October boss cutscene. The system locks up until I eject then re-insert the disk. Then the scene gets all messed up until I go to the fight.

If you get P3P all that your really missing is The Answer, which can be ungodly frustrating, so I'd recommend watching the cutscenes on youtube. P3P offer the different perspectives and overall is more polished, So I'd say as a first time player go P3P,FES is still quite excellent and you should really pick it up down the road if you can find on the cheap.

It's not the same watching cutscenes and actually playing through them. Also it's not that frustrating either, like we said before it's just more traditional mega-ten gameplay.

Traditional Megaten game play as I have seen in DDS,Nocturne Shin Megami Tensei and Strange Journey never relied on evade skills to increase difficulty. Note that I'm referring to the bosses the normal enemies were par for the course for a megaten game.

Well, you probably didn't fight the Demifiend in DDS then.

It's only a couple of bosses which do that anyways, on my second run through The Answer about a year after originally playing it i generally found it much much easier than i remembered, never died once and finished it in under 30 hours to boot.

No I didn't feel like subjecting myself to that hell.

Of the 26 shadow bosses , 17 had weakness and 15 had the corresponding evade skill so I'd say they use that method more than a "couple of times". Then again I'm known to have horrible luck,so it could just be me.

You need to remember that weaknesses in persona means you also gain a free turn and your foe loses one which makes bosses with weaknesses super easy to kill, in other SMT games weaknesses just added a bit of damage but the foe could still wipe the floor with you. You're not really supposed to be able to kill bosses of the later parts of any of these games by just exploiting elemental weaknesses, as long as they have one out of the 9 or so ways of attacking them that they do NOT resist/reflect or absorb you should be good to go.

Did you fight Lucifer in Nocturne? He is sorta impossible to kill without the pierce skill so that's another example of this.

get the ps2 FES version the psp version is disappointing, there is no ending, (well there is one, but its such a piece of trash in the psp version i don't even class it as one)

on a side note for the psp versions extra perspective, do you really want to hear and see junpei hitting on you or the other guys for that matter, if not avoid. Note ive not really been bothered to play through the whole of the extra perspective, i hated the first one enougth, im just assuming they will start hitting on you at some point.
