My dad has just spent £200 getting custom number plates for his car, leading to an almighty row about the necessity for them, I personally believe that the make the driver appear arrogant and conceited, whilst he maintains that they provide an air of class, so I'm interested to know what you all think and why.

I think if you have something you're proud of, like a 71 Barracuda, or an Aston MArtin DB9, then hell yeah you should get custom plates. Otherwise, I don't see the point.

My mates got me some for my 21st, and I like them. They're just personalisation.

As said by my political science teacher from last semester "All custom plates are good for are having the police remember who you are" or something along those lines...

The only cool ones are the ones in Resident Evil: Apocalypse, where all the cars just have a small umbrella logo on their plates, nothing else.

Really gives off a sense that they are telling you "Piss off, we're the richest entity on the planet. Go ahead and send us a ticket, biatch, we don't care!".

In real life I think they fit really well with 50 cent and people who play his videogames :p

Waste of time in my book. Plus, if you have one of these silly registrations like "I AM 1" or something - surley that makes it easier for the police to catch you?
