It kinda feels wrong to castrate and possibly declaw (in case it's a cat) your pet like most people do.
Declawing? What the hell!? Thats illegal here in the UK!

I have three, fully clawed cats, and see absolutely no reason why they should ever need to be declawed. (well actually, one of our cats DID have the claws on his back foot removed, but this was because he kept scratching HIMSELF; for over two years he had an open wound on the back of his neck where he wouldn't stop scratching at it. Silly boy)

Where are you from that declawing is actually a common practice? Seems barbaric to me. God on you for not agreeing with it.

I love animals, except err Reptiles...

But the only pet i can keep is a DOG! yay!!

Im picky about the breed too, i cant stand those hollywood dogs (toy n chihuahuas)
The dogs i keep, should be really hairy from medium to big, with upright ears especially.lol

I used to have two Samoyed, bu one day my dad said he didn't want them around anymore
i was so heartbroken, heck i still am :(

i like cats, but from afar, i dont want them in my house.

i love cats. They're smart and easy to take care of.

I also love dogs. They're fun to run around and play with.

I plan on getting a cat and a dog when I move out. Probably a short haired cat of some kind, and maybe a Rhodesian Ridgehound. If not, then a black lab.

I love my cats and dogs, their so cute ^__^ However, I dislike wild rabbits and chickens, they are always asking to be hit by cars on my street

I grew up with cats. Lots of cats. My mom is seriously 3 cats away from being 'The Crazt Cat Lady' of my neighborhood. That being said I love dogs. The apartment I live in now doesn't allow pets but once we get another guy to move to our city this summer we are getting a house and an Australian Shephard. I can't wait.

My uncle has a de-scented skunk as a pet. Once they get used to humans, they actually make great pets.

Edit- BTW, Yay!!! Muckraker Bitches!!!

You all seem to be forgetting the unspoken aweomeicity (new word, deal with it) of the humble Turtle.
Why are they the best? Lemme tell you, A turtle from the second it's born understands and accepts it's place in the world, they won't try to learn tricks or try to impress you. They just hang out all day saying to themselves "I refuse to make my life a show for you, we are not a master and a pet, at best we will be friends" That's an attitude that's so put together and positive that I can think of no better lesson for anyone in the world.
Imagine being able to truly say to yourself "I will never change who I am or pretend to be anything different even for a second, accept me as I am and we can both exist together"

I love dogs, I have a Nova Scotia Duck Toller Retriever who will be 13 this April 1st. Got to admit though, I absolutely DESPISE cats. Some of them aren't bad, but my sister has a cat she keeps at her university dorm.. It's the most bloody annoying thing you'll ever want to dropkick. It gets in more places than sand. I can't even call it a he, it's like a little demon. Ugh.

On a more cheery note, I want a snake.

Well the best pet in the world is the horse! I know they aren't exactly easy keepers, but I wouldn't trade mine for any other animal in the world. Riding a horse gives you such a better feeling of companionship than any other animal I've ever worked with!!
I also have a dog, and he's pretty sweet, but my horse is smarter and a better companion . . . it's true!
