Human augmentation is already a reality; with strength-enhancing exoskeletons and blind people (re)gaining some rudimentairy sight via visual prosthesis. Also, this year was the tenth annivesary of Deus Ex and the new Deus Ex: Human Revolution showed up at E3.

So, if the technology would ever be perfected as such that there are no health risks in augmenting a human body in whatever way, would you take any augmentations? Why, or why not?

I'd probably go for some visual augmentations: higher resolution; zoom function; infra-red, ultra-violet, x-ray and low-light vision. Also, I think I would have my lungs modified to function like avian lungs, if that's possible. They are far more effective than a mammal's lung

I want my brain uploaded to a server so then I can live forever, and eventually try and take over humanity like Shodan, my hero.

Hell yes, I'm all for augmentics.
First of all, I'd swap out my left leg... then, if that was good, my right arm, then my right eye, then my voice box.
I'd be so happy, and I could have so much fun... just unplug my leg and beat people to death with it...

I wouldn't mind one mechanical eye for all the utilities, but generally, I'd have to stick with being organic 'n natural.

I'd definitely go for any almost kind of augmentation that does not hurt my ability to have sex. I'm only against automatic stimulation of the pleasure centers in brain. If I could push a button instantly experience transcendent relaxation, what would motivate me to actually do things?

Yes, I'd go for a new right eye, some new lungs (Both screwed) and a better heart (Mine annoys me)

EDIT: Possibly a really good liver (Hooray for alcohol!)

Some thing along the lines of Ghost In The Shell, maybe a cyberbrain or being completely robotic, only posessing the human consciousness.

Probably some sort of regenrative nanite system and that computer integration skill. Just walk up to an atm and you could make it start spitting money at you. Shit would be so cash

Imagine if you had a brain-computer interface hooked up with the circuitry of a basic pocket calculator. You would retain all the human advantages in thinking, like pattern recognition and the inherent adaptability of the human brain. But it would be combined with the near-instantaneous number-crunching power of a calculator.

And here's another thought - imagine that brain-computer interface also had a wireless internet connection. You would just think of something, and the information on that subject would appear in your mind as if it were your own memory. Now imagine everyone had that same connection. The lines between individual consciousnesses would begin to blur, we'd become a kind of hive super-intelligence where every individual had the combined knowledge of every other individual at their disposal.

That's probably not too far off. Brain-computer interfaces exist already. Monkeys are controlling robotic arms with their brains already. The internet is constantly evolving and getting more and more inter-connected as well.

Yes, and I would have:

-Low-light vision
-Significantly Increased Intelligence
-Higher Muscle density
-Increased Skin toughness
-Adaptive Metabolism, so I can eat all i want while staying in shape, or when food is low it conserves
-Blood replaced with a ultra-high efficiency liquid, and marrow augmented to supply it

So just call me Battle-Brother...

Now picture your mind-internet-thing and pretend it works just like the real internet.
You'll be bombarded with junk and porn so often your brain would start bleeding out of your ears.
Instead of downloading info directly into the memory, how about webpages opening into the users HUD? Then he can select what information to "download" into his memory and ignore spam, phishing and porn. Or a mental spamfilter/ad-blocker could work.

I'd only take invisible ones. I'd hate to turn green... or something.

EDIT: This post probably makes absolutely no sense to you. I meant that I'd only want augmentations that could work without any visible effects, and that one of those effects could possibly be turning green. I'd hate that.

Cybernetics creep me out, i'd prefer forced evolution...no not the FEV I know what your thinking.
