For a thread and poll that seems so utterly pointless, it has actually thrown up some interesting stuff.
How often 4 came up in the start, and then how people seemed to start rebelling against as the 'popular' choice.
It's still got nearly half the votes, when simple math dictates it should be around 20% like the other 4 equally valid choices.

SCIENTIFIC METHOD
-The answer would never be 1 or 5 because they are the greatest and lowest, or 3 because it is right in the middle and would be too obvious.
-4 and 2 are the remaining choices.
-Combining those digits will give you 42.
-42 is the answer to the universe and everything, and this number is evenly divisible by 2 but not by 4.
The correct answer is then obviously 2.
My logic is flawless. Don't complain.
