Okay so at E3 today there were 3 press confrences: EA, Microsoft, and Ubisoft. Many people enjoyed the EA conference, but many really are dissappointed in teh other two.

Microsoft showed off some cool multiplatform games for the first twenty minutes before switching over to Kinect (Natal's newly hated name) and showing a bunch of games that have been done before on the Wii and Playstation Eye.

Ubisoft had Ghost Recon, Assassins creed, and some other games, but then also went and did a lot of Kinect based fitness games and other such nonsense.

I say that in truth both were evenly dissapointing. Microsoft is now losing all it's exclusive developers (Now that Bungie is going multi platform after Reach) and really is failing to give players a reasoon to buy their products. All there stuff seems to be available on other systems now or has been done before.

Ubisoft just sucks. I didn't expect much but I was out once they started playing laser tag and saying that it was innovative technology to play LASER TAG.

I blame Kinect. It screwed up the conferences for both.

I didn't see Microsoft's conference, but Ubisoft was horrid. They started out as strong as they were going to get, then just continously showed worse and worse items...

I loved the new redesign of the 360, I want to have that console's babies. And the new Assassin's Creed game (sequel? side story?) was awesome. Then the hammer of utter fail that was the kinect was brought down and a wave of shovelware so mediocre, that everything shown by Micro/Ubisoft just sucked, then and there, regardless of how awesome they were.

My 12 year old sister just watched the Microsoft press conference. She's not a huge video game fan, but she's really interested in Kinect (even the Forza 3 bit kept her attention). As much as I hate the gimmick, this might give Microsoft a real edge.

I missed the Microsoft conference, but from what it sounds like I didn't miss much. I watched the Ubisoft conference and was very glad to see Assassin's Creed, but everything else was pretty boring. I wish that developers would show me ways they could use kinect in more serious games if they are going to continue in motion control, although I feel that maybe it would be better to just forget about motion control.

...Kinect (Natal's newly hated name)
Actually, I think that it's new name is the only thing it really has going for it. Sure, my knee-jerk reaction was "Say whA? o_O" and dismiss it as stupid, but once I had an opportunity to consider it, I actually think it's a pretty clever name that's kind of humorous.

However, once I get past the name, I can't think of a single thing Kinect does that the Wii doesn't already do at least as good if not better. Which really doesn't give anyone who got a Wii but not a 360 any reason to jump ship.

Considering what I've seen of the PSMove is about the same but more so (how can you NOT look at the Move controller and tell it's basically the Wiimote with a reskin?), I don't see how either Sony or Microsoft can possibly hope to use either to overtake Nintendo by the time they're ready to roll out the next generation of consoles, whenever that happens to be.

Ubisoft. At the end of the day, the MS conference had a few pretty faces and stuff that was remotely interesting.

Also OMG Kinectimals! totally getting that! OR is it?! - Come on a Tiger called Skittles? Sweeeeet.

Ubisoft was just a massive disappointment. Skating in thin air? going into a coma and magically appearing in a completely different car/taking over someone's minde Harbinger style?! What was going on!

Umm, Microsoft has never really had "exclusive" developers since most of the 360s games are also on PC. So this is hardly news.
Besides, E3 is shit, it is just used for the meh gimmicky crap that people don't really care about.
I suspect that by exclusive what was actually meant was First Party - that is studios owned by Microsoft. They actually have quite a few of these still: 343 Industries, Lionhead Studios, Firebird Studios, Spanpoint Studios, Rare Ltd., Turn 10 Studios, Xbox Live Productions and Wingnut Studios. They also have quite a few third party partners.

Why can't we let motion sensing die like the hated gimmick it is within the majority of the gaming community?
I wholeheartedly agree, motion sensing is in my mind something that will only have its "15 mins of fame", then die silently away..
