Ninja for me, Pirates do have guns, but they were pretty crappy, and most only gave youyone shot. It's been scientifically proven that you need at least three shots to hit a Ninja (and that only counts for gun-weilding Ninjas of course), but they need only one shuriken to murder three people.

Had you asked me ten years ago, I would have said ninjas without a second thought, but nowadays.... Pirates.

Pirates are brutal thugs. Guilty of pillaging, rape and murder on a massive scale throughout history. Ninjas are just assassins and spies. Just as amoral as pirates.

I know it's a boring answer, but the fact is I don't find either of these glamourized black spots in history to be cool.

Ninjas, especially historical ninjas because they're even more crazy than Hollywood ones. Ninjas were originally trained for all kinds of stuff such as guerrilla warfare, sabotage and such; they even dressed as enemy soldiers and stirred up trouble in the enemy ranks to demoralise them. Ninjas were effectively the feudal equivalent of Special Forces, therefore they rock.
