Were not talking Somalians here, were talking the other kind.

You know.

Your thoughts on it?

(Im not sure what the forum rules say about piracy, but at worst we'll have a topic filled to the brim with people agreeing.)

On Present-Day Pirates: They aren't real pirates until they meet regalia standards. They also need a different name to differentiate themselves from the real thing.

OT: Traditional Pirates are badass. A Mount and Blade mod is necessary.
Also, I like how all Somalians are pirates...

EDIT: Ohhhhh...

Ironically, I don't Pirate things. Not out of a particular moral reason, just friends have had bad experiences with it.

EDIT: And yes, there is probably some negative effect on the industry, but DRM isn't helping, and it's probably exaggerated anyway. And frankly, when a game costs $60, I can't really sympathize with the companies.

My general feelings, including the "Ohhhhh..." part. In fact, I was about to type:

"Only if they're in space."

But then I looked at the other posts.

I would never pirate a game I can buy, and my definition of "can buy" includes several ways to acquire old games that have otherwise disappeared (if you know me at all, you may be aware that I recently got the original Crimson Skies for PC via Ebay). I am perfectly willing to pirate music and movies, however, since the artists involved get paid so much SHIT from the album/DVD sales. Want to support your favorite artists/actors/directors? Go to concerts, buy merch, go to the movies. Music artists see maybe 5% of the proceeds from album sales and actors and directors see maybe 10% of the proceeds from DVD sales. Almost ALL the money goes to the publishers.

Those industries will not survive the information age in the format they are in right now, and the publishers know it. Rather than change, they are trying to scare people away from the information age. I "pirate" as a civil disobedience.

It is the Grand Age of Pirates! Go find Gol. D. Rogers treasure One Piece, and--*

Wait, we are talking about digital pirates... Well...

It is the Grand Age of Pirates!

OT: You pirate what you normally can't have. If you could just buy it, you would and get a clear conscience.
