Poll: Pity Dates

The other day, a friend of mine told me, how he was having a date with this person who she didn't really feel attracted to.
I asked her why was she going to do such a thing? To which she replied, that she didn't felt like saying "no" (plus she's hoping to get a free meal).
Well, although I didn't really support her decision, at least that person's getting a chance to win her interest.

So here's the topic of discussion:
How do you feel about pity dates? What would you do if someone unattractive to you approached you? Would you be honest from the beginning, or would you give it a go?

Nope. I don't date.

Sex, on the other hand... I've been on both sides of pity-f***s

Pity dates are no good. Don't lead someone on if you are only just going to let them down.

I'd feel like absolute TRASH if I was on the pitied end of a pity date. I wouldn't be able to do it to someone else either. Its just not me.

How did you feel about it?
On the receiving end, excited... too excited to perform, and subsequently embarrassed. But then, I was 17.
On the giving end... mildly disgusted while trying to be nice and just hide it. Don't believe those who say sex is like air... sex can be bad. Very, very bad. Would I do it again..? Probably. Poor girl needed to feel wanted, at least once.

I won't take anyone out on a pity date, if we hang out I will try to convey we are friends no more. If someone was to pity date me I would be pissed.

I mean they didn't think I could handle them saying no, god they have a huge ego huh? I guess my sense of pride and honor would both explode for different reasons, but it would still be a messy day.

As someone who pretty much only gets female interest out of pity (tiredness amps up my angst glands), I would say that in the long run it hurts a lot more to string someone along.

Its so hilarious if both of you are pitied, because your both on the same playing field.
And misery loves company.

I had one instance of us both pitying each other. We had a good laugh about it afterwards and are now very, very close friends.

Given that I'm so vile and disgusting that women only need hear my voice and shudder in loathing, I've never been in a position to experience a pity date. I can't pity anybody when my face looks like the rear end of a dead toad, and nobody will pity me, because they're too busy throwing up at the sight of an abomination.
You're just being a little hard on yourself.

It must be awkward, but touching at the same time.

I don't date. And if someone I didn't like tried to ask, I would murder them in their sleep. Or just say no.
Just saying "no" would probably be for the best.

It wasn't that bad. She was really rich though. Yeah I'm a gold digger.
