I've just enrolled at college & am starting a foundation degree in Games Design & Development.
Finally I'm putting my money where my mouth is & am doing something which will lead to me getting a job in the industry, rather than getting annoyed & disillusioned when playing a new game, thinking things like "If I was making this game I would change this & make this part better".
It's a very new course & I'm excited about starting it. We have an academic partnership with Microsoft (lots of free 360's & software like Xna to work with) & the course leaders have been constantly consulting with game companies, like EA, Lionhead, Bungie, Rare, Blizzard, when designing the course, asking them what skills they need in an employee, what parts of the course to keep, drop, change or emphasise.
I think it's one of the best courses in the country for someone like me, who want to get into the games industry.
