I'm 20, but I often don't give my correct age as I can't be bother, I simply just open the year tab and put the click randomly. 1/1/1959 something like that.
Put another vote down for just slapping 1/1/19xx in, even tho I'm 36.
It's just a simple way of covering their back legally, by making you lie if you're not supposed to look
Does amuse me how many websites have thousands of visitors aged 109, tho, must skew they statistics somewhat.

I don't lie because I don't need to anymore. I am older on my youtube account because some videos (such as Ready To Fall) are rated for mature audiences only. I do lie on sites I don't care about and just fill in 1990 and let it be January 1st at times because I am lazy. I am not sure if I can actually call that lies though.
This, and since I can't be arsed to put in my correct birth date every time I encounter an age gate, I just scroll down quickly under the "Year" field and click on a random year from the 70's.WanderFreak said:

There are a lot of non-pornographic sites that are restricted. Many game official websites for some reason. I never find a whole lot of violence, even in the screen shots. Go figure. So, yeah, I lie when necessary.

The internet makes it too easy to lie. Why be honest about your age if it's only going to limit your experience online.

16 and no i lie to websites about my age because i am underage for most sites that require age verification and also because i cant really be bothered telling the truth and selecting the correct date of my birth. i just say 1st of january whenever as long as it makes me over 18.
I think the age thing is not so much to stop underage people looking at the site, it's to give website owners moral and possibly legal (I'm not sure of where it stands in law) protection in case of children viewing inappropriate material.
Before the internet and being able to find anything out with a few button clicks, there were some adult material games where before you could play you had to correctly answer several random questions that only people old enough would be likely to know.
