This is a fairly untouched concept that I thought of (although, if it has been thought of before, I apologize for stealing the credit) on a thread a couple months ago. Basically, instead of a single storyline written and chosen by the developers, you choose/write your own story, for instance, if I want to be an edgy and unconventional cop who also has a soft side to him and ends up saving the world from a zombie invasion, I should be able to!
I guess a simpler way to explain this idea would be to try and "diagram" it:
You choose/make your own character first
Then you choose his profession from a list of pre-recorded professions.
Next you choose the circumstances of being the hero, i.e. Aliens, Zombies, A terrorist cell from somewhere on the globe (just not the Middle East, I'm getting sick of all the irrational hatred towards them) etc. etc.
Then you choose the type of atmosphere you want i.e. Dark and corrupt, a comedic atmosphere, a horror atmosphere etc.
After that, you choose the time period the game is to be set in.
After this is all said and done, you choose the accents to be used by the general populous.
Naturally, this game would have to be fairly massive if it's going to be worth playing, meaning there had better be hundreds of customizations to choose from.
It's kinda like creating the game, only without having to spend years actually creating the game, you can create the game YOU want.
So, what do ya' think?
