Hmm. Well I did start with Snivy last gen, so I'll probably pick either Fennekin or Froakie.

Thoughts?
I miss the Gen 1 and 3 pokemon
The new pokemon look pretty crummy in my opinion, they just seem... off.
What's wrong with Gen 2's Pokemon? Just curious. :p
Completely unrelated to the thread. Your avatar fills me with nostalgic bliss.
Glad to hear that. :)

I recently got Kirby's Dream Collection and rediscovered my love for the little puffball.

I may wait to see the base stats before I choose, but at the moment the only one who I don't think looks absolutely stupid is the fire starter, Fennekin. I think I must be getting old, as I've disliked most of the starters these past few generations. Gen 3 was the only generation where I liked all the starters, and I didn't like any of the Gen 5 starters at all. I could just about stand using Snivy.
I just hope they release some badass new pokemon so that I can make up for the cutesy starters in my party. Yveltal looks amazing though.

Well the rumour is that Fennekin will end up being fire/psychic, Chespin will be Grass/Dark and Froakie will be Water/Fighting. I prefer Psychic pokemon (no particular reason, just find em cool) so I'll be going with Fennekin. Unless the final form reallylooks like butt.

I always pick the fire starter out of tradition, mostly. The prospect of Fennekin eventually being fire/psychic excites me a great deal.

It's gotta be Chespin. It took me a while to warm up to him, but I reckon he looks pretty good now. I just hope the later evolutions are good.

They're a better selection then the last bunch in any case. All of them are pretty cute.

I like Fennekin the most, although I will most likely get them all at the start by trading with a few friends here!

I hope we get something other than a fire/fighting type, although it doesn't look like it's gonna be one.
I really hope we get some good type combinations out of it!

I can see grass/rock or grass/ground for Chesspin, which is the one I like most thus far. I need to see evos, stats, etc before I choose though. Aesthetically Snivy is best of gen 5, but it's movepool is piss poor.

Froakie the Fogie frog. Especially if it evolves into a water fighting type would have a journey to the west theme with emboar and infernape.

I want to see all of their evolved forms first.

Especially since I am still skeptical about the fire starter.

But for the most part, I usually pick the one that looks the most useful.

Gen 1: I used Bulbasaur
Gen 2: I used Totodile
Gen 3: It was either Mudkip or Torchic
Gen 4: Went with Turtwig
Gen 5: Haven't played

Pretty much, once I see the fully evolved versions of all 3, I will know which one to pick.

Fennikin looks the most appealing to me, and it'll be the first time my first pokemon playthrough took a fire starter since Generation 2 (FUCK YEAH! TYPHLOSION).

However, my decision will likely be greatly influenced by their fully evolved forms.

I think some people on here are thinking that Chespin will evolve into Grass/Dark, Fennekin Fire/Psychic, and Froakie into Water/Fighting. I've seen it other places too, so either the same person is on multiple sites or multiple people had the same idea. I think that could be kinda cool

I'll have to wait to see the evolutions, but right now, it's a close race between Chespin and Fennekin, with Chespin slightly winning. I just hope for some more unique typing, beyond fire/fighting.

This generation's starters are infinitely better than all of Gen V's. Snivy and Oshawott were piss-ugly, and Tepig was just...generic as hell. Froakie, while generic, at least has SOME character beyond "uh...it's kind of cute...I guess." The evolutions, I hope, will really start to shine. This is the first generation since, well, the second generation that I have actually liked every starter.

Fennekin is my choice from what I've seen. The grass one isn't bad either. Being a bunny lookin thing. I must say this gen's starters are a better stock than the last 2 gen's.

But final form looks matter to me. I like my Pokemon to look good.

I'll pick some random one before ditching it in favour of the first Dragon-type I find (like I always do).

I'd really want to see what their final forms look like and what their final types are. Without that info, I'll probably just go with Chespin. I'm fond of using plant or water pokemon at the beginning of the game since they start strongly. Black/White may be an exception, though. The games usually start off with a gym that's easily beaten by grass or water.

I like all of them, but will pick Chespin because IMO he looks the most innovative, and I'm a sucker for innovation.

For those talking about previous starters:
I think these are some of the best designed characters in a while, because they're simple.
For those who don't understand why gen 4 and 5 is worse than gens 1-3 is because they had the power to make more complex looking pokemon, so they made more complex looking pokemon, which looked worse.

I plan on sticking to my usual tradition of picking the water starter as for the rest of my team I'll just make that up as I play through the game, I mean I don't even know what kinds of Pokemon they're going to be yet.

I knew Chespin would be the underdog, but I kinda like him. Also I'm trying not to spoil the other mons or their evolutions like I did with gen 4 and 5.
