Poll: Pokemon Vs Digimon

If you are talking about just the shows... then I'd have to go with Digimon.

The first 3 searies were kick ass especially for kids. Digimon Tamers ( the third one I think...) was the best. The first 3 seasons still stands up if you watch it. At least for me and I'm like 15.

Pokemon had 1 okay season (if you were a kid) that irritates me to no end that I ever liked it...


Pokemon had a better manga...

Pokemon also has better video games.

Digimon, I watched series 1,2 and 3 recently and i have to stay that show has aged suprisingly well and is very mature for the age its aimed at, also unlike Pokemon it has a plot. Great Characters and story (suprisingly mature, dealing with death and adoption to name a few), and apart from series two there are no terrible parts. The seasons were only around 50 episodes long as well so there was pretty much no filler episodes.

Pokemon on the otherhand has amazing games but an awful tv show, a few of my friends were watching the old pokemon episodes recently (ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO SO NOT THAT RECENT) so i decided to watch it, the first episode was great but i realised how shite it was after episode 3 and never watched it again, also pokemon bored me as a kid, its the same thing every show, Team Rocket turn up and try and steal pikachu, they fail then the episode ends, repeat this same formula for 700 episodes. Also tones and tones of filler, tere are about 20 good episodes max from season 1 (maximum) which means around 50 episodes are filler.

...Beyblade and YuGiOh were quite good as well though

Neither is better because they are two totally different things.

I know there are a lot of differences From what happens to the amount of people/monsters even the message within the show but back when I was a kid they where always on at the same time and people always debated over them. So it just always seemed like they competed...

It's the same thing with console wars. You picked one of them and want to justify that you chose right, so your choice is better in your mind.

It is childish to argue over this.

If you watch both series now, on their own, you'll see that there is no competition or comparison.

I own all the games systems between me and my brother and in all honesty I liked the system I didn't own more...
Anyway I just asked for the sake of asking see whats in peoples minds asking this already reminded me of metabots (which I am now looking for) And I wanted to know why people liked one what about the story or creature drew them in The question originated when I came across my copy of digimon the first movie and... wasn't trying to make you mad...

Though, Pokémon do have the games to back up their franchise, whilst Digimon was really a flop when it came to the games. Just some two-cents for you.

This poll is really wanting a 'both' option. I really can't decide.
However, I think I've watched and played more Pokemon overall, so I'll go with that.

I got to give my vote to Digimon. There was alot of diversity of characters and each season brought something new to the table which is more then can be said for Pokemon. Still, I probably bought a lot more Pokemon stuff then Digimon

Pokemon, only because of the games and had as a background. As a show, it kind of sucked. The first four movies were very good, but the ones after that were just crap. And why did they change the voices? Ash sounds more like a girl now.

ive not seen enough of pokemon to fairly judge but from what seen and heard has basically remained unchanged thru 20+ seasons? so there isnt much to spark the mind, but the standardisation means there not much to hate either... like a slice of white bread or something

on other hand digimon isnt really like that
(each season had a movie a piece i believed, plus a prequel to the first and a unrelated spin off that nothing remarkable but ok)

digimon season 1+2 + digimon 02 where 1 story which a break between them respectivly with some very good moments and some solid story arcs.

but season 4,5,6 where all stand alones
despite core creature dynamics and basic premises frame work (and the odd character being simular to counterparts, had some vastly different quirks. (kinda else world tales)

meaning that show probably touches on lot more good points than a more stock show, but also probably has more dislikable thing due to season tonal shifts and plot points.

personally i liked season 4 or "tamers" and digimon season 1-2 (digimon 02 not so much) for different reasons which i will not enter into incase i make a slip up and get attacked by people who seen it more recently.

tho the later seasons ive not liked so much.

anyways push comes to shove id have to vote digimon at its best it pretty good. also unlike pokemon people seem to act a lot more like people than what ive seen in pokemon (in season 1-tamers i mean) people have fears, adults try to protect children it not just taken as red that tweens shud consort with firebreathing dragons to fight monsters... and they do explore it with out sapping the fun.


no im not saying pokemon is bad, it just different. i watched both but i guess the story arc of digimon kept me more engaged... but that just me, i know tones of people would foam at the mouth over the idea... as they found them selved more sucked into pokemon which is cool, it kinda like 2 angles on monster kids team dynamic.

also people say it a knock off of pokemon, but digimon from what ive heard came first? and also kinda a low blow there surely other Kids/teens with pet monster(s)/robots, shows out there (that didnt just follow suit but came out simular or earlier time)?

Pokemon actually bored me by the time I was in fourth grade. It takes a LOT to bore a 4th grader.

Now, Digimon...That show kicked ASS.

its close for me i liked both equaly.

Pokemon untill the end of johto it was great. But the 1st two seasosn of digimon was amazing after that i dint care for either. But i do love the main pokemon games.

As far as the shows go, Pokemon is far inferior to Digimon.
As far as the games go, Pokemon is one of the best games ever and Digimon isn't worth mentioning.
That probably has most to do with the fact that Pokemon started as a game and Digimon as a show, I think.

Digimon felt so samey and unoriginal. The characters annoyed me, the plot annoyed me, the sounds annoyed me... everything annoyed me.
Okay, the pokemon anime has gone down the drain. But it was never that great to start. The games are just so fantastic, addictive and possibly all of them are included of my favourite games of all time. :3

For the show, Digi-motherf***in-mon for the win. For everything else (Except a surprisingly fun Digimon board game) Pokemon just dominates, but since this is about the shows than it's definitely Digimon.

I was addicted to pokemon and at the time thought digimon was the cheap knock off. I own about 100 Vhs copies of pokemon. That said the only digimon I watched when it was new was frontier. I have to admit, that while pokemon was the far superior game, digimon was a better show.

For the show, I'd definitely go with Digimon. But for the games I think Pokemon winds hands-down. Digimon never really seemed to get going with that.

Actually, I think Monster Rancher was pretty good, too. Maybe even better than Digimon. But again, the games were always a little lackluster - I've always wanted an adventure-type game styled after the show with the same randomized "any disc will get you a monster" mechanic that the main games have. But no, the games are actually just monster growing sims with a bit of pokemon-esque fighting in 'em.
