Well, the original is the only one I've played, so I'm going with that one.

Though I hear Chaos Theory has that whole multiplayer thing going on...

I played two (if you exclude the cellphone version)s - Double Agent and Conviction. Conviction was a tad better.
So, Conviction.

Might want to add a bit more content to your post.

Anyway, I always liked Chaos Theory over the others. The plot didn't make too much sense, but the sneaking was good, the levels varied, the graphics shiny (at the time) and it was all good fun.

The others were a bit hit and miss.
Sorry, just really didn't think anyone would care why I'm asking, but here you go:
Ok, so I played SCC, it was good, I played DA, it was good, But I didn't like either as much as I liked thief 2, or hitman bloodmoney, so I was thinking were the earlier ones better?

Chaos Theory easily, the worst being either Double Agent or Conviction, but at least Double Agent had some actual stealth sections as opposed to the "gun everyone down"-sections in Conviction.

Double Agent. Granted I only played the first and that one, but dear god I loved it. The Middle East mission felt like a chore though, while the base missions were bloody fantastic.

Calumon: Hello everyone, I have absolutely nothing interesting to say.

What the... damn it people, play them all! You won't get the full Sam Fisher experience otherwise!

OT: Chaos Theory. Followed by Pandora Tomorrow. Double Agent was nice and all, but the third game was simply magnificent.

Got the demo, thought I'd found heaven, played it to death, got the game, found out it had

a)Cooperative Levels
b)Multiplayer

and decided heaven couldn't be this cool, this had necks to break & blood to spill.

Haven't played Conviction yet, but I've heard it's more shooty than stealthy, and takes about 15 minutes to beat.

Chaos Theory. By then, they had perfected the formula of the first two games. Some of the levels were great. I still love playing the tanker level.

Chaos Theory with Conviction in second. I wish I still had Chaos Theory on my Xbox, I would get it on Steam but it uses StarFox DRM which over a period of time kills the CD drive.

I'm a not be original here and say Chaos Theory, though I haven't played a Splinter Cell I didn't like. By the way, my avatar is of Archer from Conviction because my favorite game in terms of visuals is Conviction (and Reed apparently has a better fashion sense than Lambert)

Well Pandora Tomorrow was the first Splinter Cell with multiplayer. Chaos Theory added the co-op, though.

Anyway, wheres the second Poll?

They were different games.

I can't speak for the 1st Splinter Cell game ever, as I'm ashamed to say that I played the 3rd one first, unwittingly, and found the 1st one so god awful after that I couldn't go back. I bought it and everything, but it was so clunky, I just couldn't get through.

2nd one was close enough to the third for me to greatly enjoy it, but Chaos Theory... oh god. The series reached its pinnacle in that game. And what an ending!

Double Agent effed things up a bit by having levels where stealth was impossible, and you just had to shoot (what were they thinking?), plus they had different versions of the game for different console generations (I missed out on the coop version, GRAAAGH), plus they used one level like 4 times, which was kind of annoying. They were both great, but Chaos Theory was superior.

PS: I've played Thief 2, and all the Hitman games, loved em all; I guess it comes down to personal taste.

That, and the gravelly smooth voice of Michael Ironside [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Ironside], the voice of Sam Fisher. Aaaaaaw yeah.

The second level? That's the one I dislike most!

The bank level is my ultimate favourite.

So, Conviction.
How can you not play Chaos Theory?

Chaos Theory was the gem amongst all of them. The first two games were brilliant in their own right, but the polish the game received with CT was amazing.

Then came Conviction (What's Double Agent? That doesn't exist. Never did. Will never.) and even though it is an excellent game, it just can't quite keep up to Chaos Theory. Granted Conviction still has me in a frenzy (the good sort), but ... it's just not the same. It worked because Sam was Sam and his VO will always get to me, and because the Deniable Ops are fun. And yes, because the game play (while no longer as stealthy as I personally love them) is still heaps of fun.

But at the end of the day I miss Lambert. Him, and good old Grim poking fun at Sam for being such an old fart.

I would also like to utilize the power of quotes. It is somewhat unrelated, but every time I play Infiltration Mode in Conviction I have to think about this:

"Let me guess. Three alarms and it's over?"
"Of course not! This is no video game, Fisher."

vs

"One alarm and it's over."

Makes me wanna slap a *****.

I played all of them (in order) though I only have the first one, DA (360 version) and Conviction.

Fun fact: I have the first game because one of my mother's ex's borrowed it from a friend and broke up before he could return it.

I've played the original, Chaos Theory, and Conviction, and I'd have to say out of those I've played, Chaos Theory is really enjoyable, I gave it a few playthroughs at least. I also played through the first a fair few times, so it's obviously in my good books. And personally, I think Conviction is amazing, but it is missing quite a few things. Story longevity, for one thing.

But Chaos Theory's my pick, until Ubisoft tops themselves.
