As some one who never played it, it looked... interesting.
Not something that particularly interested me though.
And I don't think a whole lot of people still play it; it's a pretty old game.

A strange game. The only way to win is to not play at all.
Now now, the primordial stage was a fairly good minigame.

...that lasted about 4 minutes.

The rest was just... well, something we don't talk about in polite company :)

If memory serves, there was even an achievement fro reaching the space-stage within one hour of starting the game. I don't consider that a positive sign in a game, if 90% of the content is doable within 1 hour...

I was promised 2 polls :(

OT: the game was fun until the space stage
although building a bass shaped aircraft was awesome...

I reinstalled it about 2 week ago, to mess with the creature creator and to wind down a bit before going to bed. It lasted about 3 hours total, then I got bored again and deleted it.

Sounds like a plan!

.................And no Darkspore sounds like utter tripe. A poor attempt at reviving a bad concept.

It was okay, but I just stopped, got really bored, and after using the Crysis editor, all editing tools now pale in comparison, even the editor for Crysis wars released not long after...

You're under the assumption that the point is to accomplish; considering it's about creation, the content is in fact infinite.
The same case could be said about Microsoft Paint...
