I can't comment, given I have no experience with PCs what so ever, but using the phrase "given that x can do anything much better then y[/y]" generally is the easiest way to start a flame war.

Sorry to sound like a bit of a dick, but your thread title is kinda messy. It says poll twice, and you spelt 'please' wrong.

Also, in your poll, you said 'anythin'. It's missing a 'g'.

Anyway, I'm using Windows 7 right now, and have Vista on my PC...and 7 is nicer. So that is my choice.

Good luck with your project.

EDIT. Yeah, also does sound a bit flame inducing. Just saying.

Also, it's 'supposed', not 'suppost'

Given that OSx is better? That sounds awfully opinionated. You shouldn't make claims like that without backing them up.

Windows 7 is fast and powerful, and it feels like it means business. Before 7 I always used Ubuntu, but I can't go back now.

Given the situation (I.e. if OSX could do anything better than Windows) then I would say OSX would be my preference.

In a real world scenario it would be Windows 7 though.

A little suggestion for you if you intend to ever do surveys again. Never make a statement like the one you prefaced the survey with, it tends to skew results.

If Windows and OSX had a babby, it'll be the best thing ever.

FACT: Windows is the only major OS to NOT LET YOU SETUP VRITUAL DESKTOPS OUT OF BOX. Linux lets you do it, usually 2x2 grid, and OSX has 'Spaces' which you can navigate by holding down control/option key and pressing arrows. It's very smooth, quick and built-in. I think you can also setup arrow keys the same way in the latest Ubuntu release also.

So why don't you have virtual desktops windoze?

you didn't phrase the question correctly.next time try something like

OSX is a new operating system by windows that is reported to be an improved version of windows 7. knowing that would you prefer this OS or would you rather have another OS.

and include a choice of 'I will have to wait until it comes out'

"They call it BSD and open because it's always free. So raise up your glass and three cheers to the funny fish for never running and making something good. Here's to puffy hood!"

(Open BSD)

Isn't OSX a Mac product?

OT: Based on my criteria, (Let's me use the programs I want, is familiar, allows me to access the internet, supports my hardware) OSX is, in fact, not "better".

So I use the "Best" (Based on my criteria) OS, which is Windows 7. I would prefer XP but 7 is "Better". So I use it.

I didn't answer the poll because I don't think I would be answering the question you're asking.

We're on a games site and you're saying OSX can do everything better? D'oh ><.
OK, it's not exactly the OS's fault (other than not making itself the platform of choice :p), but still - because Windows enjoys the better support, it really is the choice for gaming atm. Some of us hate to do the compatibility shuffle. (I do occasionally use WINE under Ubuntu, but I'd rather not).

Besides, the question is not answerable by me, because you've got to tell me what tasks you're aiming at ;).
I prefer gaming under Windows (as it tends to be less infuriating) and I like to do my programming work under Linux (or Ubuntu to be more precise).

Even just considering Windows, 7 is better for some things, XP excelled at others, but Vista can go find itself a hole to die in.

As for poll I didn't know that would atomaticly be added and for my spelling I was typing on my iPad so it is very possible that I pressed the wrong key

mac doesnt run my games
http://comixed.memebase.com/2010/03/06/4-koma-comic-strip-oh-you-know/
sry, couldnt get the image to post
im not one of those people that expects my computer to just work, almost nothing works like that, and what little does, costs a bunch more, and still will only work for a period before being, at the very least, obsolete
add to that, most of what i use is not supported by mac
anything mac can do, linux can do better, anything mac cant do, windows will
TL:DR, my games dont run on a mac, and if i was going to do a mac, i would just as fast go for linux
