I'm having trouble deciding between two games which I am interested in.

First is the game GTA IV which I'm sure many of you have played. In the past I have rented many GTA games, but have never actually purchased one. I have not rented GTA IV yet, and do not plan on doing so. If I am to play this game it will be upon purchase.

Second is the recently released game Just Cause 2. Unlike GTA IV I have experienced this game (in the form of the demo), and I found it quite enjoyable.

My dilema is that I can purchase GTA IV for around $30.00 (it would be the Episodes from Liberty City version with the DLC included on the disk), or I can buy Just Cause 2 for around $40.00, but I cannot choose both as I do not have a lot of money to spare.

So I ask for your opinions on which one I should purchase. Should I go with GTA IV, a game from a series that I've been a fan of for years. Or Just Cause 2, which has only recently caught my attention. If you wish you may post your reasons as to why I should purchase one or the other.

Just Cause 2 is way more fun... Plus you can do so much more then you can in GTA IV

I'd say go with GTAIV. I've played them all since the first, but the series lost my interest around the time of Vice City. GTAIV, however, does a great job in bringing the series back to life.

Just Cause 2, I'm not sure about. I hated the first game with a passion, and the demo for the second game, although better, left me unimpressed.

I don't think you get the original game with that, just so you know.

Just cause looks more fun, but I doubt it will have the hours GTA has. Espically if you get the episodes with it as well. GTA also has MP so it has more replay value.

Honestly though, wait for crackdown 2. Because that will be far more fun then Just cause, and more MP gameplay then GTA

Cant really say much about just cause 2, but GTA kept me entertained for days. If you want a game you will still be playing in the next 2 weeks, id get GTA. The DLC's are pretty damn good too.

This opinion is correct. JK

I agree with this person 100%. I tried to like GTAIV but could not. I prefer fun and mayhem over realism.

I'm waiting for Crackdown 2, but that's more than a few months off and I'm very impatient. Currently I just want to choose a game for the moment I'm in. I plan on getting Crackdown 2 the moment it comes out no question about it.

That depends. Do you enjoy realism or mindless fun? Grand Theft Auto 4 is realistic in every sense of the word. You won't see yourself flying a jetplane only to suddenly jump out, open a parachute and land on the top of a mountain completely unharmed.

Just Cause 2 on the other hand forfeited realism for mindless dribble. If you have a rich imagination you can have loads of fun in this game. If you don't then you might get buyers remorse.

I'd say get the original GTAIV game to sate your thirst, and Prototype for the extreme-over-the-top sandbox mastery.

Already have Prototype, however you can only beat it so many times on hard before you get bored. I found it enjoyable however, and it is a good way to experience epic mass mutated murder.

Exactly.
GTA4 was fun and everything but is kind of done after you play through it.
I can't be sure (as I've only had it for a couple of weeks) but I think Just Cause 2 is finally going to replace San Andreas as my go to game for when I just want to wander around and cause a bunch of chaos. It's more of a keeper as I think I'll keep going back to it just to mess around. That and it's going to take me a long time to see everything.

The only time I ever put gta4 in the machine anymore is when I want to show fellow NYers the gta style abridged version of our city.

GTA IV easily.
The sheer amount of fun that game has given over the years it has been out is stunning.

You can say the same about GTA, with imagination (and cheat codes) terribly awesome fun can be pulled from this game. If you want an experience closer to what you have seen from JC2, then The Ballad of Gay Tony comes close, while still keeping the realism, which I believe adds most of the fun to the game.

But, the games can't just be judged on mindless killing and grotesque self-mutilation possible, but also story and characters. It is here that GTA surpasses JC by a mile, offering hours of game play, just playing the story missions. I would recommend getting vanilla GTA and both of the add-ons, not only because of the different weapons and rides, but also the highly interesting changes in perspective focusing on the shady underbelly of Liberty City.

But, that's just my opinion.

What sounds more fun to you? Boring brown city with your fat "cazann" calling every ten minutes or hooking a guy to the back of a car drive toward a cliff parachute out of said car with the guy in tow getting exploded at the bottom like a cheesy action film.

I voted Just Cause 2, and here's my reasoning:

Just Cause 2 is just more fun! I've played both, but theres is just something so gratifying about jumping off a mountain, deploying a parachute (from your infinite supply)gliding down until you see a car/bike worth stealing, taking it, driving at break-neck, parachuting back out, only to see a water tower standing defiantly in your path, you don't just glide politely past, you pull out a sub-machine gun and blow it to kingdom come!

Where in GTA IV you can drive a mediocre car and smash it in to unseen on-coming traffic and die.

Yeah, they can. When it comes to gameplay Just Cause 2 just plain triumphs and you needn't look further than the demo itself. Whilst I agree that story wise GTA4 is miles ahead, the better sandbox game here is JC2.

Just Cause 2, personally.
GTA 4 is a fun game, for sure. Best GTA story to date, great visuals, and just a blast to play.

But Just Cause 2? It's just about having real, awesome fun.
You know in GTA games when you get bored and just want to blow everything up? Just Cause 2 rewards you for that. The game world is so much bigger then GTA's, there is so much to see and do, and loads of stuff to blow up.
I'm currently 30 hours in, and about 40% finished.

I could have probably finished the main campaign by now, but it's too much fun just running around blowing stuff up and swinging around with the grappling hook and parachute.
Just Cause 2 is the most fun I've had in a sandbox game, ever.
It's not perfect, not at all. The story and voice acting are atrociously bad. And the controls to take some getting used to. But in the 'fun' department? No other sandbox game I've played comes close.

Get it, and have a blast.
