Any computer gamer will tell you that a custom built rig is superior to a prebuilt any day of the week, and you can't custom build an Apple. I run Windows for my gaming, and Ubuntu on my secondary computer.
Actually, Hackintosh [http://osxdaily.com/2009/09/03/build-a-screaming-desktop-hackintosh-running-snow-leopard-for-around-900/]
And there are legal ways of making them.

When I have enough money to do so, I am so building myself one.

And also, everyone, I am amazed by how well people are doing here of not being demeaning towards Mac users and their machines! *reads the posts written while typing*
OK, to a degree.

I like my Macbook. The OS and general what-nots really aren't for everybody, but through circumstance, Apple products have been the best computers I've ever had. And with a bit of Wine, I even get to run most of the PC programs I'm interested in. I thought I'd utterly despise it, but I made the switch a few years ago, and don't plan on going back.

But in all seriousness, I'm used to PC's, it's what I'm comfortable using, that used to be one of my main problems with Macs. I'm aware that Macs are getting more appealing, but I'm too stuck in my ways.

Also I dislike Apple.
Perfectly reasonable. I dislike a lot of things concerning Apple too. I just own a MBP because it best suits my interests (art/graphic design).
I also dislike microsoft for making the xbox 360 so shoddy, yet I still play the f*** out of my xbox 360.

I've used PC for so long and I'm so familiar with it. It is... too late for me, son. Microsoft is my master now...

Same here. I've had 2 xbox's RRoD on me, and another that chewed out my disks, yet I still get a new one.

I completely forgot about Hackintoshes, but I still don't see the point in running any version of the Apple OS when the functionality I want comes standard in another format (and yes, I know about dual-booting too, it'd just be a waste of space for me). There's a reason that I have a Windows machine and that's because currently I can't be arsed to try to get Steam running through Wine or anything similar.

At my job (1 year anniversary, yay) they put me in front of a Mac and I was like, "WTF is this shit?" but after getting used to it I can see why people like it. I really enjoy the ability to open up all my windows, having them all on screen, and then just tapping (I use a tablet instead of a mouse) the one I want. Windows 7 has a similar feature but it doesn't intelligently sort out your 10 different windows, they just all pile up on one another or force you to scroll one at a time.

Also, there's a neat shortcut for the screenshot command and while Windows 7 has that "snipping" thing there's no shortcut for it.

Though, I still prefer my PC at home, after all it allows me to do stuff like this:

NEWCOMERS TO WG - Read this before asking ANYTHING

tineye.com - search for wallpapers. Post a desktop, get a wall.
rainmeter.net - resource display software
http://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/ - icon dock, mac style
http://rocketdock.com/ - icon dock, mac style
http://www.winstep.net/ - Nexus, icon doc
http://deviantart.com - art community, check the customization section for skins, walls, icons, whatever

and yes, I got that from 4chan, of all places.

I use a PC with Windows... wait for it... XP. Fuck yeah for outdated OS that can't run Just Cause 2, a game I waited 2 years for! It was the only time not being able to get a game ever made me upset :(

Double Poll? What does this mean!?

OT: PC. Macs offer things I dont really need or want. Plus they're way too expensive :p

you have too much money.
So if i were to have five computers I would be a millionaire?
(The other three are horribly outdated though, but the best one of them can ALMOST run Fallout 3)

Absolutely brilliant, have you ever considered using your powers for profit?
Profit? What kind of hypocrite would do that?!

*cough* pc means personal computer and the mac is a personal computer so both windows and macs are pc *cough*
Sorry about that my pedantic side got the better of me. I use windows 7 because Macs don't do the stuff I want them to. Also because I don't want to be forced into buying computers from a single company.

You know what I'd love? For people to be able to make a distinction between Windows and PCs. Macs are PCs
Can't blame us - it were those obnoxious 'Mac vs PC' ads that segregated the community. And honestly, since the 90s 'PC CD-ROM Software' always meant Windows compatibility.

I'm sure this had been done before but I was wondering whether the Escapist was predominantly Mac or PC or other (I guess, there is a third option, oh Linux is that an other)
I'm a PC by the way, had a second hand Apple laptop that I really found frustrating.
Linux is an operating system, you confused your readers into thinking this was a poll between Linux, Windows, and Mac when it's not, it's between PC and Apple-made computers (also called Macs, it's kinda confusing because their computers and their operating systems are under the same name).

And for the record, I chose PC. I don't feel like paying $1,500 dollars for hardware comparable to a $600 PC and then having sub-par software on that computer because things aren't compatible with it.

I am afraid that, although I may have relvant contributions to support my opinion in this matter, I think I can only reply in one manner:

I use both but i voted "Mac" because Macs outnumber PCs in my home :).
I've got a desktop PC running Windows 7 for gaming, a 13" MacBook Pro for almost everything else and a Mac mini as a media server/HTPC (PLEX ftw).

Macs do not game, PCs do, not an optional choice.

Besides, I hate Apples philosophy, which encourages ingorance in the consumer and the IT industry, and its something I think is cause to rally against.

Thankfully, they still don't control any markets (albeit, briefly, they had smart phones, praise be the android which has saved us), even though their disgustingly overpriced products, has still lead them to be quite valuable.

Mind you, I'm still open to an Apple product, just let me do wtf I want to it, price it fairly in the market, and make it reliable, efficient, whilst still being all black or all white coloured, or whatever, then yes, I'd consider you. Untill that day though, I will stand against you be you trickle or waterfall.
