It's scientific! :-D
No it isn't, its a convenience sample.

OT:

I like small talk

I am 15

I am male

I live in San Marcos, Texas
I also like small talk, and I'm 15 and male. But I live in Canada.
I wouldn't usually ask, but could you guys maybe invade my country and impose socialized healthcare on America? At the rate our politicians our moving it'll probably never happen on its own.

hahaha
In terms of military might, that would be like one lone wasp attacking an entire colony of army ants.
What if some of us fought for you?

Oh well. 25, Female (good lord, I'm the only one!), California.
Yes, well, my ulterior motive for this thread was to find out what kind of people really frequent the escapist. So far, my suspicions have been confirmed.

Generally dislike small-talk (awkward at first, once the awkwardness mas passed I'm fine though).

I'm male, 15, live in Canada.

I don't mind aimless conversations with good friends, but that's not small talk. That's just saying stupid stuff.

I find small talk aggravating purely because it most often occus with peple I don't know well and/or don't like.

EDIT: 19, male, Australia (specifically, Melbourne - if you care)

I can't stand small talk. It's awkward and painful and I don't know what people want me to say. I'm 19, Female and live in Australia.

If you like small talk, though, here's the television show for you.

Damn, I didn't read the original post close enough. (I swear that's the first time, guys!)
Ummm...
I don't avoid small talk.
Small talk can be amusing, especially when you get going on something smart, and the other person has no clue what's going on.
But, if these are to be scientific, you can disregard a vote for 'no'.
Because I confirm with no one anything about me other than my country. Which is Canada.
(Though, quite a few Canadians like small talk cause we're all polite and crap.)
I give you not any further concrete proof of my identity.
Not yet, anyway.
(What? It took me six months before I even made a friggin' account! It's gonna take me longer to give you anything else about me besides just mah country!)

Generally can't stand it. Always been prone to social awkwardness, often drawing a blank while having a conversation about things I don't care about (how about that weather? more like, who gives a fuck about that weather?)

Male, 24, Bowling Green, Ohio

The last 3 years I was forced to learn how to talk eh, small talk. It's what you get when you work in the biggest supermarket (it's tiny) in our small community, gotta make lots of small talk with the costumers. So I manage, I prefer talking about meaningful things, or the things that really interest me.

As for the data, male, 19, Holland.
