How do you like polls? I know it can vary based on the question, but I am wondering which poll type you enjoy most and which type you think is the most useful.

I like semi complex for most polls, after 4 or 5 options I start to wonder if there had to be so many choices to answer the question. Thus it is ironic that I have 8 options for you to choose from.

I like complex polls but there is a limit to how many options there are which can get annoying if people are asking for more poll options when there are no empty poll options left.

The obviously one sided polls, because it means that someone trying to start a flame war of some sort is about to get a smack from the mods.
I just love the sound of impact when they get hit.
Apart from that... not really sure.

I like polls with more than just "like," "dislike," "don't care," "OMG TTLY RANDOM!!1!" options. It of course depends on the poll question, but I've noticed that most of the polls around here use some variation of that format for answers.

I like it when the person who made the poll seems to have drawn the answer choices from responses that people may have actually given them. Like, let's say someone does a poll for "At this point, do you still like Halo?" Good answer choices would be:

"Yes, it's still fun."
"Yes, but it's starting to get a little played-out."
"No, I've never been a fan."
"No - I used to, but I think it's way past its prime."

You know, things that gamers would actually say. Cool thing is, when I've seen polls that do this kind of thing, the most un-formulaic (based on the formula I mentioned in the first paragraph) answer usually gets the highest votes.

Clearly, putting good polls together is an art and a science. Which probably explains why I've never managed to post a good one around here.

The best way to poll statistics is to do simple yes/no answers in my opinion. That way it is entirely clear where people stand.

Joke options annoy me because it takes away from the point of the poll and they are never funny.

Depends. If it's a poll about like/dislike, there should be either 3 or 5 choices with a middle neutral choice (Strongly Like - Like - Neither like nor dislike - Dislike - Strongly Dislike). I spent a lot of time in college making out surveys and questionnaires for various Psychology projects. It's just ingrained in me. I like balanced polls that show little to no bias and with no joke answer (unless the entire intention of the poll is humor).

I'm also fine with forced choice. This omits a neutral option. For instance, if the question is "Do you support this resolution that will put more restrictions on mature games being sold to children? Yes or no". Sometimes it's good to see what people say if they are forced to choose.

The thing that ticks me off only because you see it so much I wonder what convention all these people gather at to do things the same way: The random ass food option.
