Something strange happened too me a few hours ago.

The news of Mr Jacksons death was starting too surface on Sky news, But within 5 minutes of Sky saying they had "unconfirmed reports" of the death, my facebook account was filled with status updates proclaiming Mr Jackson was dead, WAY before it was actually confirmed. Of course now we know he IS dead, But thats not the point im making.

My friends on facebook are not a bunch of simpletons, However it suprised me how much credability they were giving too a news agency.

The question i ask you is: Do you believe the mass market "breaking news" or do you reserve judgement or panic until the news is confirmed?

Depends on the source
Depends on the likelihood
Depends on who is getting interviewed and how they interview"ee" is responding and determine if the response is plausible. (see the leprachaun in Alabama report.)
