I've found that I tend to treat threads with polls differently than threads without them. As a matter of fact, I very seldom post in threads that include polls. I suppose I subconsciously assume that threads without polls will typically have a deeper and more intellectual meaning, and won't house hundreds of people arguing over simple opinions.

What about you? Do threads with polls discourage you from posting, or do they attract you?

They don't do anything.

Sometimes I will even forget to vote in the poll.

Speaking of polls, where is the "I don't make threads" choice? Thank You.

They make no real difference to my posting habits, and the main reason people complain about them is that they can actually see the people who have just gone on the thread and then left.

I tend to use the poll but then not explain what I mean with the answer I give.

If one were to have answered '[Philosophical Answer that is too complicated to be summarized into a single word.]', would one have to briefly summarize it?

Well, I suppose they attract me, if only to see if there is anything to report.
Chances are, if it is a poll thread, someone will disagree with someone else, and it may escalate.
Well, that's my two cents, so to speak.

Not really, depends on the completeness of the input or how strongly I feel. Time is also of the essence thus it really depends on the time and the mood more than the thread.

It'll go one of two ways for me:

#1 - I'll enter and post, but forget to vote.
#2 - I'll enter and vote, but forget to post.

I'll hardly ever post and vote, I just don't have the attention span for it.

I think that if you put a poll, sometimes people think that doing the poll is the same as contributing to the thread.

I never vote in polls, most of they time they are silly and contain answers that just don't need to be there.

"Do you like the colour blue?"

Yes
No
Banana

Also, summing up someone's feelings in 8 options rarely works.

I think people feel like they've already stated their opinion when they vote in the polls. I do both because it gets my post count up.

I prefer posting in threads with a poll, because what's expected from you is made more clear.

Yes because they're always filled with stupid ass answers like this one.
