This ... except I tend to go with the 'Mandatory joke option' when I don't have a strong opinion abut the other options ... or if I just really like the joke option.

Just like when people are rating games that have a huge following. You can't give it what it actually deserves but you can't give it the perfect score because then the people who don't like it will be pissed. Basically it's all about popularity. As for your poll i think corn dogs are awesome.....
Do hipsters apply to this argument?
Hipsters go against the popular opinion, so they let mob mentality affect them too, though they wouldn't admit it.
As for the corndog argument, I don't know if hipsters like corndogs.

Well sometimes if I'm sitting on the fence, reading what other people have to say can help sway me in one direction or another. Doesnt have to be popular at all, just a different way of looking at something.

If anything, my knee-jerk reaction tends to be the opposite. Then I take a breath, sit back and actually formulate an opinion.
*is off to heat up some corn dogs*

i usually am vocal on the smaller team (if that's were my opinions happen to fall).

I defend things like pop music, religion, and other flame war things.

(also i was going to post a similar thread but you've beat me to it.)

I don't get it. Could someone elaborate?
What, don't you get? What corn-dogs are? They are hot-dogs on a stick covered in corn badder and deep fried. If that wasn't what you were looking for, could YOU elaborate?

I don't let other people's opinion influence my own unless they provide convincing reasoning for it.
This!

My opinion is important to me and if someone has a different one, then it's my pleasure to talk about the issue. If the arguments are convincing, then I will admit that I'm wrong.

But I expect the same behavior from the one I talk to.

Lol no. I always vote in a poll before I read any other responses. That's what it's there for, right? It wants to get your initial response. If I have no strong feelings, I pick the joke option or don't vote at all.

Yeah, I'm pretty honest about my own opinions, not to the point of being a jerk or anything, but I know I like loads of things that are ridiculously uncool, and I'm totally unashamed of that.

Corndogs are one of my favorite unhealthy foods ever. They are delicious and nutritious and on a stick. Come on, what more do you guys/girls want. They are hotdogs on a stick and deep fried. Did I mention that they are on a stick?

I think you have to actually no the results, whihc is why I'll vote before I read any other posts (unless I have to read the first post for it) for you to be swayed, otherwise its coincidental.

then if I feel I want to say something about the thread/topic, I'll go below and post. Or if I want to clarify why (like if I'm the only person to vote yes in something).

As to the poll above, I dont find corndogs good, because I just dont like the batter they are fired in. It reminds me too much of cornbread fried chicken, where the skin is kinda spongey ish? I dont know, how to describe it.

As for the post, I dont like to go with the crowd unless its how I actually feel. Then again, I'm one those people who doesnt just stand around if something happens and everyone just looks at them.
