Well, some canadians knows this. M. Ignatiff, the liberal leader, could spark an election soon. It's all depending if he votes for or against the budget put forward by the conservatives.

To add fire to the mix, he has Prime Minister Harper in choke position. M. Ignatiff will agree to the budget for a few conditions. If Harper accepts the conditions, Ignatiff will vote for the budget. If Harper doesn't give a damn about the conditions, it's election time!

So any opinions from any canadians or others.

It's not a fairy tale with magical fairies bringing chocolate to all good boys and good girls in the land.

It's real and the women here are greater than yours. (Ok, I'm being over-patriotic here. /Slap myself for shame).

Why the hell not? It just doesn't feel like a typical Canadian month unless there's at least one election. My province just finished theirs, why not crank it up a notch?

I really, really don't think Iggy should bring down the government now if he wants to win. As it stands, Harper would still pull out another minority, sooo...

I wish New-Brunswick would finally have a freaken election. The present liberals acts more like some old man that hates kids. They really hate kids.

The fact that you have a Liberal government amuses me... well, it would have amused me if our former Torie government hadn't attempted to divide by zero. By doing so they pretty much created Anti-Nova Scotia, with the Tories firmly in power for the better part of a decade to the NDP forming a majority with the Liberals as the official Opposition.

I'll repeat that, because it bears repeating: The PCs went from being the default government to only managing to poll better than the Greens. The Liberals, who used to be no more than a provincial punch-line, are now the Opposition to a MAJORITY NDP government.

It boggles the mind.

We've got a lot of slags, yes, but we've got nice red-heads.

In fairness though, I got to hand it to Canada. Without it my favourite TV show, Stargate SG-1, would have to find another place to film and this song would never have existed. Please rise.

Feel proud, feel very proud.
That is just how the trick you. They lie there playing opossum, waiting. Until you forget. Making you think only of rocks and trees, then they send moose calvary after you.

Also they filmed the show in Washington until the state decided to play pricktard and ask for shit loads of money to use the scenery in a movie. Which is why all movies the take place in Washington are actually filmed in Oregon, or Canada. Famous movies like Twilight. To be fair through Forks is a shit hole and nothing the movie makers could have done would have made it like the Forks in the book.

Until the supreme leader of canada admits fault and voids the results of the last election, I don't see how anyone can take canada seriously as a country. I suggest we bomb it and ask questions later.

I hope not, but probably. Canada REEEALLLY can't afford another election right now, just coming out of the recession and all...

Look at me, a full-fledged recessionista.

I just think the parliamentary set up is gay. I like that I vote for my president every four years.

Having said that, I bet an election will ensue - however I don't see what good it will do since Obama runs the world. Oh wait, was that an American superiority dis? yea... sorry. haha. jkkkk.
I like the fact that parliamentary systems can have buyers remorse and return the guy to the store. I'm having buyers remorse about this President but there are no refunds.

I sure hope not. If we have one this summer, I'm going to most assuredly get my ear talked off about "civic duty" 'n such. At least when I'm at school I'm free to take the election at my own pace. Living with my parents means I get to get browbeaten by the elder generation; my colleagues will back off eventually, my parents will not.

That said, if there was an election right now, I wouldn't care too much who won - Liberals or Conservatives. I haven't found anything too offensive about Harper or the Conservatives, and Ignatieff seems more than competent to lead the Liberal party. Then again, I don't really pay much attention, so that could explain my lack of hatred either way.

Such a good metaphor.

What the hell does any of this mean? explain it to a yankee.
Ok, uhmmm...

Right now in your system it's essentially:
#1. Democrats
#2. Republicans
#3. Nader

Basically, switch #1 and #3 and you have what's happened here, only on a provincial (state) level.

If there is anything I love more than voting once a year it is definitely voting twice in one year. Sure, lets blow a few more million dollars and demonstrate once again that our leaders cannot cooperate by having another election where the conservatives win a minority because no one knows what the hell they want and everyone will just vote on single issues, so we can all sit around and fume about it for another few months before we do it again.

If you can't tell, this is pissing me off. I think we need to pull out the ol' constitution and give the system a shake up. While we are at it we can do some other political changes that I have in mind (removing the Queen as our symbolic head of state for one thing).

Liberals == Democrats
PC == Republican
NDP == Nader (i guess but you really don't have 3 parites)

the others well they've got a snowball's chance in hell of getting elected

i however don't think there will be an election, if they do most people will either not vote, which means PCs will probly win again. the Liberals should spend some time and get their party strong instead of going right for an election.

my only issue with the Liberals is they promise all this stuff and once they get into power they break every promise they made, look at McGuinty in ontario, he actually legislated out a "keep your promises" law so he couldn't get sued for breaking his promises

no, he will not trigger an election. Because he have nothing to win out of it. The election would be around july 27, right in the middle of the summer where lots and lots of people are in vacation and away. they will not follow the campain, and they will not go vote. With polls right now, we can expect that harper would win, with a minority again, so there's nothing to win, and harper will just have to point ignatief and say : see, it's because of him that we are in election again. he's a bad man !
