i do tend to get wrapped up in games regardless of how immersive they are or not (im looking at you oblivion)
but yeh i felt i was robbed by fallout when it ended how it did. mostly cos i was naive and thought i could finish the main quest and then do the side quests.

I get a weird feeling of emptyness after I finish a really immersive game like Mass Effect. I don't know why. The game has to be pretty immersive to havge this effect though. It happened when you finish all you can in Pokémon and Oblivion. It also happened when I finshed the main storyline in Mass Effect 1 and 2, Oblivion: The Shivering Isles, Tales of Symphonia, the Fire Emblem games and Assasin's Creed even if the end was a little anticlimactic.
I got so immersed in Mass Effect 2 that when my sister came to talk to me after I had been playing for 5 hours straight I was surprised when that dialouge thing at the bottom of the screen didn't come up. I sat there for what felt like a long time with no idea how to respond to her. She only asked me if I wanted some caramel slice...

The first time I ended Chrono Trigger. I was happy when my sister explained that there is still a lot of stuff to do after killing lavos.
But I can relate. Depends on the writing in the game though.

Fallout 3 (until I got Broken Steel), but Chrono Trigger, especially when you've gotten the other endings and you know this next one is the last, is probably a text-book definition of this situation.
I actually watched it when I completed the game, so I did managed to last the full length, somehow. The entire final 'chapter' of Eternal Sonata where they go through the portal ruined the game for me.Onyx Oblivion said:
Ontopic though, it happens on most RPGs that I found to be good. Hell, even some other games which have good storys, like Assassin's Creed 2(Ending left much to be desired, though).
I did that with Tales of Vesperia funnily enough, it came out summer last year in Europe, and I got to the end pretty quickly. But didn't do the final dungeon until about summer this year.Diligent said:

...and more than a little dread that they really meant it that Ezio would see Leonardo again some day. (Please, let them move the main storyline out of 1500's Italy. There is so much promise, and so many new possibilities, if they can just jump another century or three in the timeline.)
I feel that way after I beat KOTOR. As far as RPG's go it's pretty short I would've liked it to be a bit longer, but not at the cost of the quality of the game.
I remember feeling really bummed after beating Tales of Symphonia back in the day.

I only feel that way after I've beaten a really good game with a great story/characters (KoTOR), becuase you can't re-experience any of the feelings you got the first time around. You can replay it, and sometimes get a vaguely differant tale, but it's a somewhat hollow experience for me.
Only on a few games does this happen to me. Kotor 1+2, Dragon Age, Rogue Galaxy, Earthbound, FF6, and Chrono Trigger all spring to mind.
If the game doesn't have any replay value, then I generally hate it anyways.
However, a lot of JRPG's that I play have the whole "New Game +" idea, where you get some sort of benefit for starting the whole game over again. The best example of this is Tales of Symphonia. God, I loved that game.

Mass Effect 1. First time I played it through I didn't realise that after Ilos you couldn't go back and do sidequests. I felt..guilty strangely enough, thinking I'd left so much unfinished. Particularly about Garrus and Wrex's quests. Although, having M4 PartII playing through the credits kinda cheered me up a little, it was a damn good song.
God knows how I'll react when the trilogy ends. I'm actually dreading the announcement of the third game.
