Do you make threads from time to time, regularly or not at all?

I like responding to threads but I always like starting my own discussion. As a side question, do you read through the pages of threads when you're bored? :)

There you go.

Nom nom nom nom, delicious poll!

And yes, I actually read through pages of threads before commenting, to make sure that what I'm gonna say hasn't been said. Most of the time it has, and so I Don't comment at all.

Back in 08 I made 90% of all threads.
In 09 it was down to 30%.
Now it's like 1%.

Almost never. And the first thread I made got locked, one of my most recent ones had no replies.

I do read through pages and that's the main reason for my post count being so low considering I come here almost every day, though lately I've been posting a lot more, don't know if I'll leave the Internet again though, probably I will since I have to move again and I probably won't be able to afford it for a while.
As for threads I don't make many I think I have less than 10.
[sub] I move around once a year, though this year I'm moving 2 times it sounds bad but you get used to it, sometimes it's actually exiting getting to a new place, and I love the road so other than the lack of Internet can't complain much about it since I actually like it[/sub]

I almost never make threads (i think i have the grand total of 1 so far) usually citing that either they've probably been done hundreds of times before or that my idea (for a thread) is pretty weak or stupid.
As for replying to threads, not often. The Escapist seems to have quite the community of intelligent, opinionated people who share my opinions, but can present them in a much more interesting way.

I have made one thread. The results were disappointing, but not crushingly so.

I... tend to think less of people who make loads of threads. It annoys me, especially when they've only been here a couple of months. I deliberately waited until I had 1000 posts minimum and had been here a fair while before making a thread. It just didn't feel right doing otherwise.

I only read through more than, say, 4 pages of a thread if I'm particularly interested in it, which doesn't happen often. Most of what I see in the forums these days are rants and repeats of old threads.

I can't remember the last time I made a thread. Probably nearly a year ago. Generally, I jump into conversations other start.

And yes, I'll generally read all of the comments before posting my own. How can you really weigh in on a conversation if you're not caught up on it?

I sometimes do. Only when I get a brilliant idea or see something worthy of a thread.

I can barely remember the last time I made a thread.
Honestly, I don't feel like most of my thread ideas are worthwhile, so I just don't bother making one.

Most of my threads are based off of random thoughts I have at the time (usually stemming from something I either read off teh interwebs or just watched/played). I start a thread on average once every couple of weeks... ish. Really don't know.

And it depends on the thread, sometimes I'll trawl through every page looking for keywords (e.g. that alcohol thread currently on the first page, checked through the whole thing for 'ethanol' so I could propagate a lame joke). If it's a more thoughtful thread, I'll read it for anecdotes and genuine opinions. As for posting, once it's off to more than two pages, I usually don't bother unless one, it's something I feel strongly about, or two, I find myself quoting someone (with intent to provide a rejoinder).

This applies to all except Forum Games... where this shit just doesn't matter...

It's nice to know that there are people who read through a thread. Call me paranoid parrot, but I always had a suspicious feeling as to whether anyone ever read other posts. The only time I would feel like "Oh, this person read through the posts." are when the quote is used. *phew* I'm quite relieved. :3

I think I've only made two threads. I only made them since I honestly wanted to discuss the topic a bit, and I have a lack of friends capable of holding a coherent conversation about games. :3 I haven't made a thread since then simply because I haven't thought of anything I wanted to discuss since then that hadn't already been brought up.

Some days I'll post if I feel like it and other days I can be quite content to simply reading people's posts. It all depends on my ever changing mood. :D

I have never made a thread on the Escapist. Sometimes I have a thread idea, but then I'm too lazy to make one and later I forget about it.
